What a lot of power Dominic Cummings thinks he has...

Online news this morning; Dominic Cummings has declared that Boris Johnson is a 'fu****t' and it is 'his duty to remove him'. Aside from the fact that he supported the Johnson administation until he fell out of favour and was relieved of his position, what kind of ego does this man have when he can declare that 'his duty' is to bring down the Prime Minister? I wonder what his job description is right now, and never cease to marvel at the astounding narcissism of some personalities who were formerly in politics. A sense of unending self importance and omnipotence - Tony Blair being another .

I'm sure there are many GNetters who avoid News and Politics, either because they are just not interested of because they cannot accept that many GNetters have quite different opinions to theirs.

As others have said Sawsage you don't have to read any of the News and Politics threads if you find them boring.
You can always start threads of your own about topics that interest you.
Personally, the N & P threads are the ones that I am most interested in.
I am not interested in the threads about dogs but I don't go on them and say that they are boring, because I know that they are of interest to others.

Sawsage - you don’t have to read the news and politics threads. I’ve known gransnet far more political than it is currently

Casdon Fri 04-Feb-22 14:19:50

A lot of us are interested in current affairs, and like to exercise our brains and debating skills though Sawsage2, that’s why these threads are so popular. They are always posted under News and Politics, so if you find them boring, why not just scroll by?

Sawsage2 Fri 04-Feb-22 14:14:46

Gransnet has got far too political recently. Blues against Reds ALL the time - boring!

How right you are Germanshepherdsmum ?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 02-Feb-22 10:07:35

You’re insulting Gollum there!

NanKate Wed 02-Feb-22 08:30:13

I’ve suddenly realised DC looks like Gollum in The Lord of the Rings. ?

Nannina Wed 02-Feb-22 08:22:15

Don’t like the man but hope he’s got something left to reveal which Boris can’t wriggle out of.

I agree Tigger - he’s doing the country a favour. The more he can say to discredit Boris the better. Thank goodness he had the sense to put everything in writing.

When you know you know ..and he does. He was the brains behind Brexit and the brains behind Boris who is not the brightest despite his various literary quotes and analogies . Cummings was up against it trying to make impactful changes at government and then he was up against Mrs Johnson who is an ambitious and dominant character in her husbands life. Cummings is not likeable .. but he’s clever ..spiteful ..not really ..just spilling the beans to expose what we all know..don’t let an opinion of his persona or his castle trip cloud our judgement or diffuse the seriousness of this prime minsters inadequacy for the job ... Cummings knows more than anyone the truth I believe.

Cummings is an unusual personality, but no matter how dim Johnson is, he recognised a fellow Machiavellian traveller. He thought he could use Cummings, as he did with the Brexit campaign. He misjudged how long he could use his companion without the snake turning on him.

I dislike Cummings as much as any Gransnetter does and of course he has an agenda and wants to do Johnson as much damage as he can. But that doesn't mean he isn't telling the truth! He has loads of inside information, including emails and messages and photos and I for one say if he is going to expose Johnson for the nasty piece of work he is, bring it on! (It doesn't matter that Cummings is also a nasty piece of work, in my opinion).

Couldn't agree more - Cummings knows where all the bodies are buried; if Johnson had done nothing wrong, there would be nothing to report. If Cummings has more dirt on Johnson ( and I wouldn't be surprised) then we need to know. As dolphindaisy said, we don't have to like Cummings to believe him.

Can't believe how many people have passed on photos
Did they think I can make money from these. Why did they not complain they went to a party at the beginning Seem to be a lot of users like Cummings around

As they've passed them to the police I doubt if they'll make any money from them in the foreseeable future.

MaizieD Tue 01-Feb-22 18:16:24

I expected Sur Gray to be more sensible.

This has given me one of the best laughs of the day grin

Oh dear, kwal. Did you think that she would completely exonerate Johnson? What a disappointment.

She's a proper civil servant, honest and objective. She reported what she found.

Cummings and Johnson are both habitual liars, but when they contradict each other, one of them must be right.

My thoughts exactly. It's said he was the architect of getting BJ elected and getting Brexit done. You don't have to like him to believe him.

Dija Tue 01-Feb-22 17:07:40

That Dominic Cummings still wields power and is hell bent on destroying BJ is quite the most extraordinary part of this whole Sorry chapter in British political history
Machiavellian and narcissistic ,a toxic mix, he should be banished from the media and never heard of again

Lostmyglassesxx Tue 01-Feb-22 15:49:11

So boris wife does run the government then !! Just as I thought !

JaneJudge Tue 01-Feb-22 15:42:21

I wonder, does it matter what his personality is like or if he has an agenda, if what he is saying is true?

cupcake1 Tue 01-Feb-22 15:29:21

Vile man yuk! Those eyes look so menacing and make me shudder ! Proven liar and rule breaker himself (which a high percentage of the public condemned at the time- media included) should be given zero airtime. It’s sour grapes and retaliation for his sacking. I am definitely not condoning BJ in the slightest as I believe he should have stepped down from office immediately this disgusting revolution was unveiled, but as someone else said on this thread pot and kettle spring to mind.

Chewbacca I could have written exactly the same. Odious little weasel.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 01-Feb-22 14:26:00

I worked in the real world too and accumulated nothing that might bring others down. I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing something so deceitful and dishonest. Someone who does that is either insecure or treacherous, or both.
