What a lot of power Dominic Cummings thinks he has...

Online news this morning; Dominic Cummings has declared that Boris Johnson is a 'fu****t' and it is 'his duty to remove him'. Aside from the fact that he supported the Johnson administation until he fell out of favour and was relieved of his position, what kind of ego does this man have when he can declare that 'his duty' is to bring down the Prime Minister? I wonder what his job description is right now, and never cease to marvel at the astounding narcissism of some personalities who were formerly in politics. A sense of unending self importance and omnipotence - Tony Blair being another .

I hope that he manages it.
Fair means or foul!
Johnson is an extremely dangerous man.

GagaJo Mon 31-Jan-22 09:10:25

I really think everyone should bypass him and stop listening. The law, the government, the media and us.

What this odious man wants is publicity and attention. We should starve him of it. Show him how irrelevant he is.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Dominic Cummings and Tony Blair.
Whatever you think of Blair, at least he was elected, not only by the people of this country but by the Labour Party to lead them.

I often wondered why Boris kept faith with him, especially after he broke the Covid rules with his trips to Durham and Barnard Castle. People like Cummings and as you say, Tony Blair, are legends in their own minds and their arrogance knows no bounds. Cummings would have been furious at being shown the door of No 10 and will be happily plotting away to see Boris gets the same experience.

Not quite irrelevant - Barnard Castle had its best year ever and the tourist board put it down to all the publicity!

I hadn't realised there had been so many people with eye problems that year.

Boris isn't capable of PM'ing on his own. As we can see. He needed Cummings so tolerated almost anything.

Rosina Mon 31-Jan-22 09:30:45

janeainsworth I had no intention of comparing them - each are so special in their own alarming way, and the only thing they share as far as I can see is a sense of their own God like importance to this country.

The media need to stop giving Cummings a voice. There’s an agenda there. I think he’s forgotten that he too broke rules and is a known liar. All this Partygate is getting ridiculous now. There are much more important things going on that the government need to concentrate on. Let the investigation’s take their course and worry about the terrible issues the actually matter.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jan-22 09:36:47

I do think that the MSM need to stop giving him airtime / print inches etc. he is a man who appears to need the oxygen of publicity to survive.

The most important thing facing our country at the moment is that our PM is a duplicitous, self centred dolt with no leadership abilities whatsoever. Being in that situation is what is making all the other issues - Covid, Brexit, Ukraine - much, much worse than they need to be.

He needs to be replaced because he is unfit for office.

Is Cummings too powerful? Maybe. Should the MSM ignore him? Maybe.

But if everything he has said wasn't true, we'd be ignoring him already.

Some of the things DC writes are quite amusing he talks of getting rid of Johnson like “ cleaning the drains” and that BJ was only interested in self aggrandisement through vanity projects. The fact that Johnson followed Cummings direction for so long does speak to his lack of judgement.

EllanVannin Mon 31-Jan-22 09:46:15

Blimey, is he still trying to justify his own shortcomings ? He's like a dog with a bone.
Something radically wrong with the man.

luluaugust Mon 31-Jan-22 10:02:15

I do love it when "duty" comes into a sentence. I do wonder if BJ will stay a bit longer as nobody else wants the job just at this moment whatever they say. I think DC sounds rather like an angry five year old at times, language aside!

Quite!

Since when did Cummings know what duty was? Certainly not when he went to Barnards Castle during lockdown. He seems nasty and vindictive to me.

That would be censorship - he's not doing anything illegal at present, merely giving his opinion on a political situation that he was for a number of years very closely involved in.

westendgirl Mon 31-Jan-22 10:29:03

But whatever you think of Cummings he was brought in to mastermind Brexit by Johnson.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 31-Jan-22 10:33:17

Ghastly little weasel.

Chewbacca Mon 31-Jan-22 10:36:41

Cummings is a weasel of a man. Devious, sly, slippery and prone to being forgetful that he's hardly been a paragon of honesty and openness. He's an odious little man who was clearly happy to lie, deceive and cheat the public when it suited him. His revelations since being kicked out have nothing to do with him having an ounce of integrity and everything to do with him being scorned.

Really? Can’t say I’ve noticed that. When DC broke Covid rules himself, Gransnetters were rightly outraged. In my opinion he is a nasty and vindictive man. Possibly narcissistic. Given BJ’s record over the Covid period, I’m amazed that he didn’t see the writing on the wall when he sacked DC.
