The Queen has COVID

I am nearly 30 years younger than the Queen and I am just recovering from Covid. I could barely speak, totally exhausted and wiped out . I could just about manage to read a book before falling asleep. She must be super human if she can manage ‘ light duties’.

Not pleasant for anyone and I hope she recovers. She won't be bothering the NHS of course.

The last time she was on TV she commented on camera about finding it difficult to walk and she now has a walking stick. She is weeks away from her 96th birthday, but must miss Prince Philip's support. A support that she doesn't have from her favourite son Prince Andrew. The recent media coverage of Charles and Camilla and succession may allude to things being put in place.

I think she's done well to reach the age of 95 without needing a walking stick. As I alluded in another post, she's constitutionally quite strong in spite of her age and apparent frailty.

The whole idea of the lockdowns and restrictions from the beginning was to stop the NHS being overwhelmed. It sort of worked. So as we can't stop this virus especially this variant, the restrictions are a little OTT. Its down to individual personal choices now, as it should be. I'm doing LFT tests, whilst they are free when I am meeting with groups of people. I am still wearing a mask in shops. I too hope the Queen recovers well and soon.

Hope she recovers quickly and that they are telling the truth that it is mild. You never know with that lot.

I said a little prayer when I heard. I don't have much time for most of the royals but definitely have a very soft spot for Her Maj. DH has Covid at the moment and, although he's vaxxed and boosted his symptoms aren't mild at all, despite him being 'fit and not fat'. His chest sounds dire and I'm wondering whether to invest in an Oximeter (sp?) as one of my Dsinlaw suggests. Anyway, I hope both he and the Queen get well soon.

I’ve also got it at the moment & feel completely fine, sore throat but haven’t needed paracetamol. This seems to be the case now, so hope hers is similar ??

Well, it's looking good so far. I wish her all the best. She will be a brilliant promoter of the fact that covid can be 'lived with'.

Her 'light duties' will not include what many elderly people- some in ill health caring for their partners - have to endure.

And she will have immediate medical attention and monitoring around the clock.

I wish her a speedy recovery as I do anyone who has had or got Covid. Now is not the time to be snitty if we ever should be about people who are unwell.

I hope you feel better soon peasblossom. My son and husband had it after Christmas and my husband still feels wiped out on the odd day and he is much younger than the Queen. It really isn't a very nice virus at all.

I had to laugh this morning, when someone said on BBC that the Queen was 'WFP'. ie working from palace, rather than working from home. Thanks to Vegansrock, I now have this mental image of the tiny Queen, wrestling with pegging coronation robes out on a washing line in this high wind!

I think she did a couple of video meetings. Personally even exchanging a few words with OH - ie. Tea, please - wears me out?☹️

Yes I’ve had it, and no, I’m not sneering, just saying light duties is not dusting for her maj.

Grand-daughter (12) really enjoyed doing all sorts of activities again over half-term. Did 'return to school' test yesterday and has got Covid. So this is certainly not over yet.

So hope HRH will not be strongly affected. I am sure stress lowers your immune system, and she has had so much of it lately.

One symptom of Covid is extreme tiredness so well done YM.

Hanging out the washing is a heavy duty chore best avoided if possible.

I was exhausted enough after dealing with paperwork yesterday and I don't have Covid. ?
Most 95 year olds wouldn't even be doing that.

“Light duties ” means signing the odd bit of paper not pegging out the washing.

They have medication now that they can give you as soon as you test positive and it gives you a far less serve form of the illness,
