Seems like the measly sanctions haven’t frightened Putin, surprise surprise. What will be our circus of a government here’s response? We need to build bridges with the EU and have a combined response with the US.That would mean a different government here, I fear, as this lot have burnt too many bridges. Can’t wait to see Liz Truss in her fur hat issuing threats.

We have sent bullets and anti-aircraft weapons amoung other weaponry. What is the difference between helping them shoot down aircraft from the ground and helping them do it from the air?

Europe and the USA are continuing to do so.

I think the MIG decision will be reviewed.

I'm not suggesting that I'm telling you something you didn't know.

Perhaps you can have a word with the person who last week gave away the location of a family member and what they were doing?

Why would I? Have I suddenly been promoted to be this persons Manager?

It seems both you and GG13 have decided this forum is here for you to tell other people what to do. I do not see it that way. To me it is here as a place of discussion.

While we're all gaily discussing food drops and fighter jets, someone could well come along and tell us what their family members are up to. If fact they did. hmm

So I'm not stopping you from saying anything, or telling anyone what to do. Just asking for people to think before they post.

The military chap on Jeremy Vine just now just explained it.

Turns out that things aren't as black and white as some people think. But even Jeremy understood it.

Just to correct you

The Polish fully expected a new paint job done to the MIGs by the USA .

The USA & I believe NATO have advised Poland that if they let the Ukrainian Air Force fly these Polish Fighter Jets (which are in full Polish livery ) President Putin could take it as a sign of NATO and The West engaging in war with Russia which would mean a major escalation of the conflict.

Sorry - anyone watching Ukraine would know that I would have thought.

I assume that people don’t have to be spoon fed.

I agree with GG13. I said something similar on another thread.

It would be disingenuous to think that the conduct of the war is being described blow for blow on the front page of the press. Whether it pleases us or not, that's what's happening. It's a war. Some things will be kept secret.

Which would be fine if you volver and GG13 were telling us something we didn't know. In the whole cross-section of society that is GN some of us will have backgrounds that will make them very aware that there will be things we are not being told.

However, we all know what we are being told and can make comments appropriate to that.

I don't understand the allies not having organised an Airlift of food into the most locked down areas. We have done it before and it cannot be seen as an act of war.

I think it’s very naive and in some cases dangerous to think that we in the West are party to all that is happening in Ukraine.

It is a war, and some things need to be kept quiet.

If that pleases and satisfies you GG13 that's fine.

I think we will hear about people who have starved/frozen to death at some point. I would like to see a pointed and visible effort to show that inflicting that on people of another country is a crime.

DaisyAnne Nothing about this war pleases me what a ridiculous thing to post!!

Having our eldest AC serving as an Officer in the armed forces, I am careful what I post.

Making unfounded assumptions of frozen/starving casualties do not help anyone.

For the same reason our MOD have their knickers in a twist because British servicemen including a 19 year old from the Coldstream Guards have gone awol to fight in Ukraine. They are trying to find and stop them in case Putin takes it as a sign we have declared war on Russia.

That is extremely worrying 25Avalon , the MOD have far more than their knickers in a twist The fear is that they will have their uniforms/identification with them.

They have confirmed that they have identified four armed forces personnel have gone AWOL, they suspect that there could be more. These will not be identified until they fail to report for duty.

So are they going to have the paintwork changed into Ukrainian markings, the Poles would have plenty of would have plenty of munitions to give.

Then a they need an airbase inside Ukraine that can be defended against Russian bombs and missiles. The US has got those systems, will they let Ukraine have them the way the Israel benefits.

It’s difficult…

Israel in all probability never escalate into WW111, the minute a Russian plane is shot down by an aircraft which is not Ukrainian it is generally accepted that it means third party aggression against Russia.

Are you really suggesting that NATO/USA start WW111 with all that entails?

Good morning, this is Kyiv calling.

There is fierce fighting all across the country, many civilians are being evacuated from frontline towns and cities, while Russia actively targets innocent people.

But the capital still stands.

We are still here.

We will remain here.

Katie59 Tue 08-Mar-22 20:56:45

The word is that the US has traded them for NATO alternatives, just what the US intendeds to do with MIG 29s, if anything, remains to be seen.
In the current climate removing Polish MIGs makes friendly fire incidents less likely

Poland is ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all their MIG-29 jets to the Ramstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America.
