John Bercow has been found guilty of bullying staff by an enquiry according to Sky News.

He is banned from all parliamentary buildings for life.

Lovely eyes, though, compelling.
Perhaps if he had a shave and a haircut?

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Mar-22 20:08:02

He is a great actor.
But I'm not keen on hairy men.

Peter Dinklage in The Station Agent was sublime! In part, it confronted how men of small stature are routinely openly laughed at, pointed out in the street and ridiculed and made to feel "less than". None of you would dream of ridiculing a diminutive woman or a very thin man of 6'9" but posters like Maudi are shameless in their "othering" and actually say outright that "they look silly". Maybe they do Maudi but they have less to feel silly about than you do.

But Dinklage is Cyrano de Bergerac in the new film. What's not to like?

Sorry, I've derailed this thread. But Peter Dinklage!!!

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Mar-22 19:53:33

No, I prefer Bercow.
He won't shout at me twice.

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Mar-22 19:52:48

Aveline

Just off to Google Peter Dinklage.

Me too!!

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Mar-22 19:52:16

That was to Maudi btw

The case was more about bullying the staff who worked for him and parliament in general. Reducing staff to tears by publicly shouting and humiliating them is appalling.

Surprised at how many GN’s agree to this as it allows them to put the boot in re Boris. Shocking but not too surprised that bullying is fine in some circumstances account to the haters.

... who has defended bullying by Bercow?

You fail to mention the bullying by Priti Patel when suggesting that "bullying is fine in some circumstances". She also reduced some to tears.

I don't think anyone is putting the boot in re Boris for the sake of it, either. He's being held to account for many of the lies he's told. As any PM should be.

My mistake! I thought the thread was about Bercow!

a lovely man?

Has your lovely man read your posts on here?

Ah, you need to watch Game of Thrones Aveline!

Aveline Thu 10-Mar-22 19:47:31

Checked. No thanks!

Aveline Thu 10-Mar-22 19:46:57

Just off to Google Peter Dinklage.

Chewbacca Thu 10-Mar-22 19:40:53

Me too volver

Don't know about the rest of you but I'd trample over people to get to Peter Dinklage...

Chewbacca Thu 10-Mar-22 19:00:24

Oh Maudi you've shown yourself up there haven't you. What a pitiful outlook that is to have to carry around with you. I'm sad for you.

Maudi Thu 10-Mar-22 18:56:54

Ha ha don't be ridiculous it's all about personal choice. Fortunately I'm married to a lovely man who is taller than me and my son is 6ft 3in.

GillT57 Thu 10-Mar-22 18:13:50

Maudi, you should be embarrassed. By your comment.

Casdon Thu 10-Mar-22 18:12:08

I think being embarrassed by being with a man shorter than you is a sign of your own insecurity. Women who are confident don’t care.

varian Thu 10-Mar-22 17:56:41

I think you are right to point out that couples like these face riducule and discrimination.

That cannot possibly be justified .

I am 5ft 6ins and my OH 6ft so we have never encountered that type of discrimination but we do have friends whose height difference is the other way round.

He is a very strong character, as is she and I think that may also apply to Mr and Mrs Bercow.

I don't condone bullying and I think that if John Bercow was found guilty of bullying staff he should have been punished accordingly and treated the same way as Pritti Patel, also proven guilty of bullying.

Having said all that I must say I thought Bercow was an excellent Speaker, safeguarding Parliament at a time when it was under attack by the forces of Brexit, backed by Mr Vladimir Putin.

Sadly his protection of the rights of MPs was not enough to protect our democracy from the malign influence of Russia and we were taken out of the EU, de-stabilising the West in accordance with the wishes of the Kremlin

Maudi Thu 10-Mar-22 17:34:38

I think couples where the man is a lot shorter than the woman look silly. I would be embarrassed.

Lucca Thu 10-Mar-22 17:25:03

No

Anniebach Thu 10-Mar-22 16:59:01

Is it acceptable to refer to ‘the fat woman’ ?

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Mar-22 12:32:23

I think the height may influence attitudes though. If you are a woman and a man is standing near you shouting and he's 6ft+ his words will go over your head a bit. Whereas Bercow will be about the same height and his words will be right in your face which is far more intimidating and far more noticeable. So possibly his height did influence things.

He would have been shouting straight at me at one time but I think I've shrunk a bit.
I'd probably just have asked him if he'd finished when he drew breath.

True - but that's looking at it objectively.

Suggesting he has 'little man syndrome' or that he's a "little twerp" isn't.

Of course it's always possible he feels diminished by his short stature (because people insist on remarking on it) but I somehow doubt it bothers him much... he's quite a buoyant character.
