John Bercow has been found guilty of bullying staff by an enquiry according to Sky News.

He is banned from all parliamentary buildings for life.

I'd love to see him get his own slot on a media programme where he can point out the flaws of Government/Parliament to all and sundry. I am sure his take on certain situations would be worth a listen. You know that old saying about 'inside and outside the tent'. He'd have to be in a room on his own of course so he can't be accused of bullying/undermining anyone.

Bring back Bercow!

Order, Order!!

I haven’t read it myself but someone on Facebook said Berkow mentioned the accusations of bullying in his autobiography.

I have just watched some of #politics today. There was a clip of Priti patel speaking and I do wonder how she is allowed to get away with her downright rudeness to other M.P.s , I think
The present Speaker needs to be much stricter and curtail the bad behaviour . Bercow was good at his job of Speaker. Unfortunately he was disliked by some M.P.s who didn't like being reigned in.

Your grandson will be just fine Dickens please don't worry. Young people of today are far better educated and understanding of the differences in people that makes us all unique. It's only here on GN that small minded people get to voice their silly opinions and think they hold any validity. Think of all the more diminutive men who are hugely successful in life: Bernie Eccleston, Robert Redford, Rod Stewart, Peter Dinklage, Martin Scorsese, Jamie Cullum, Winston Churchill.... and not forgetting our main protagonist.....John Bercow!

... thank you Chewbacca

You're right about those successful men, too.

Both men and women vary greatly in height. I have a friend who is 6' and she's stunningly beautiful but has never been bothered about the height of her (many) admirers, one of whom was a medical professional, shorter than her, who she fell madly in love with and who didn't seem bothered by the disparity either. It's just ridiculous... and to post photo's of Bercow and Rod Stewart (I think it is him) so that we can sneer at them, is just crass.

I'm sure my grandson will be OK - young people are generally far less judgemental than our generation.

That posting just touched a nerve - it's akin to mocking people with disabilities in that no one can help their genetic make-up.

I don't like Bercow's personal aggressiveness (though I did think he was an effective speaker) and if the bullying allegations are true, then he deserves the criticism. And that's what this thread is about and now it's been hijacked to sneer at men in general who happen to be shorter than their chosen partners.

I just wish that Bercow hadn't been a bully because we could certainly do with him now as Johnson and cronies, especially Patel at the moment, lie to the HoC repeatedly and don't get hauled up for it. Bercow was a marmite man but he certainly knew all there was to know on parliament and procedures and the house is a worse place for his absence.

maddyone Fri 11-Mar-22 10:31:00

What does it matter how tall the people in a relationship are? What matters is that they love each other.
I don’t like Bercow because of his behaviour, nothing to do with his height.

maddyone Fri 11-Mar-22 10:28:51

Oh no! I don’t agree with personal attacks.

^One thing I don't do is make personal remarks against other Grans on here^

But that's exactly what you have done maudi; you've informed all those GNetters that are taller than their husbands/partners that they look silly. You clearly believe that to be true because you then go on to inform us all how "fortunate" you are that your husband is taller than you as if --that matters one iota and that your son is 6'3"!

How is that not a personal remark? Apart from it being crass, ignorant and rude it's just a thoroughly unpleasant remark to make about anybody. But it's not your first and probably won't be your last.

My son who is 6'3 married a woman of very short stature. They have 2 boys - my grandsons.

One takes after his father and at age 13 is already 6'2. The other has his mother's genes. He's 10 and has 'girlfriends' in school, some of whom are taller than him.

God help him as he grows up. In his innocence at the moment he is not 'aware' and has the confidence typical of his youth. I find it more than depressing that he might have to face the sneering contempt directed at males who don't make the grade because of their height. Something over which they have no control.

The implication is that they are 'lesser' men because of it. What a bloody insult.

Zoejory Fri 11-Mar-22 09:51:22

I have never heard of women being embarrassed because their husband is shorter than they are.

My son is a good 4 inches shorter than his gorgeous wife. Very happy, not silly and not embarrassing.

To think that way is silly and embarrassing.

And I'm taller than my chap. Not by much but so what?

Just a weird comment.

Sorry, shorter than their husbands

Anniebach Fri 11-Mar-22 09:28:39

Maudi you must know every woman on GransNet is taller than their husbands , if not, you may have made personal remarks

Dickens Fri 11-Mar-22 08:53:37

Maudi

I think couples where the man is a lot shorter than the woman look silly. I would be embarrassed.

... how unfortunate then if you meet a man you really like who is shorter than you...

Thankfully, most couples can probably withstand the ridicule, contempt and 'embarrassment'.

Maudi Fri 11-Mar-22 07:38:38

Hey ho whatever floats your boat. Sticks and stones and all that. One thing I don't do is make personal remarks against other Grans on here now that really is sinking to a new low even for some of you on here, when you can't fight your corner or you have no argument to present or you just don't agree with the post make fun of the poster now that really is being small minded.

BlueBalou Fri 11-Mar-22 06:05:34

I did not like Bercow, he struck me as a rather snide, aggressive individual who took great delight in sarcastic put downs and thought himself as very clever in doing so. That alone makes him a very unpleasant individual in my eyes.
The fact that he’s been proved a bully doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Ha ha don't be ridiculous it's all about personal choice. Fortunately I'm married to a lovely man who is taller than me and my son is 6ft 3in.

Bully for you, makes up for your small mind.

Are you still talking about the charming Mr Berkow?

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Mar-22 20:22:40
