This is going to cause so many problems in so many ways

Rosie51 Tue 12-Apr-22 16:52:01

thanks for the link snowberryZ, one of the clearest I've seen. Isn't the animation of pregnancy brilliant? No wonder we feel uncomfortable during pregnancy, I always knew everything got 'squashed' up (mum was a midwife) but it explains having a bladder the size of a walnut grin

Mollygo Tue 12-Apr-22 15:24:50

Thank you for this link! It’s clear and concise so I’m saving it for future reference SnowberryZ.
Sadly, I think it will be ignored by a few people.

snowberryZ Tue 12-Apr-22 14:12:18

Can't argue with this.
Didn't realise how different men and women are!

"Boris Johnston sounding like the most sensible person in the room"
Indeed, that is a bit of a shock but very welcome.

This link might work better

But that’s because you have a conscience nanee49 obviously some of these athletes don’t, just the same as the ones that take drugs to win the race No fears of cheating just a need to win whatever

The British Cycling Assoc. seems to have banned trans participants, for now, until they can sort out a workable system.:

Yes for now, but apparently the sporting authority think if it would get us a medal that we might not otherwise get, he should be allowed to compete, so they are going to tweak the rules so it can happen.
How shameful!

The voices of those with misgivings about the whole trans issue problems are getting louder and louder MollyGo.

Mollygo Sat 09-Apr-22 12:27:15

It is cheating. I wonder how much support there is among families of swimmers and athletes for allowing the failed males to cheat in order to win. I’ve noticed that those who are too old for it to affect their chances of winning, or even competing seem to be more pro allowing males to cheat than those it actually affects.

Chewbacca Sat 09-Apr-22 12:17:17

So she came joint 5th with Thomas, which, considering that she was competing against a biological male was a fantastic achievement in itself, but she was then told that she had to accept the 6th place trophy for the photographs and her own 5th place trophy would be sent in the mail? And Thomas could have offered to share their 5th place trophy but didn't? Right. What could possibly be deemed to be male bias in that scenario? hmm And the trans allies can't understand why women are pissed off about this? No doubt someone will trot along shortly to tell me why I'm transphobic for seeing the unfairness of this.

FarNorth Sat 09-Apr-22 12:01:36

The young woman who tied in 5th place with Lia Thomas speaks out.

"If ever you get lost in this debate then harness your inner ten-year-old. You wouldn’t want to compete with the bigger boys and girls. Nor do you want to beat the little ones. That would be worthless. You would want to match yourself against the other ten-year-olds. You love sport for the competition."

FarNorth Sun 03-Apr-22 12:23:07

Absolutely not, Rosie.

I've heard some people say it's not Thomas's fault as he just followed the rules that exist.
He did, but he can't have been unaware of the results of doing that.
He simply didn't care as long as he could push himself forward.
Still, maybe we should hail him for getting this widely noticed and commented on.

Mollygo Sat 02-Apr-22 13:20:45

Thanks FarNorth that’s definitely a step in the right direction for female sports.
Rosie51, no. He would still have been depriving females of their rightful awards.
A huge thank you to all those who have really made the point about it being cheating.

Rosie51 Sat 02-Apr-22 13:06:33

That is good to read. As you say a small step in the right direction. Do we think it would have happened if everybody had just stayed mute, or only uttered how stunning, brave and worthy Lia Thomas was?

FarNorth Sat 02-Apr-22 12:21:14

A small step towards actual fairness, maybe?

The young women who lost places because of Lia Thomas get recognition.

It's a sign of the male feeling of entitlement that he obviously didn't consider continuing to compete as a man, if he transitioned.
No, he didn't consider that for a minute, wanted to race and win. He made it clear it was only when his competitive days were over he went ahead with the transition.

FarNorth Thu 31-Mar-22 19:19:39

Don't feel foolish Rosie.
As you say, you were sucked in. Also it's natural to want to be positive.

It's a sign of the male feeling of entitlement that he obviously didn't consider continuing to compete as a man, if he transitioned.

Rosie51 Thu 31-Mar-22 19:13:48

FarNorth

^They said it was a hard decision, but they felt it was a fair one.^

That implies that if he had transitioned he would have expected to switch to competing with women, rather than accept the price of his heartfelt desire to transition had to be a slightly lower performance while continuing to compete with men.

That person doesn't deserve admiration just because he chose success as a man over unfair competition with women.

I suppose I hadn't considered it like that FarNorth It is revealing that I admired his choice not to cheat women of their rightful place, as I'm sure he would have expected to race women after transition. Too easy to get sucked in isn't it? I now feel a bit foolish blush

BlueBelle Thu 31-Mar-22 18:57:32

What stands in the way of that do you think?
What stands in the way is I don’t think that’s what trans want they only want to compete against weaker bodies so that they can win ???

FarNorth Thu 31-Mar-22 18:35:35
