He really is despicable.
The idiot is enjoying all this grandstanding on the world stage and having a 'good war'.

He really is despicable.
The idiot is enjoying all this grandstanding on the world stage and having a 'good war'.
He really is a loose canon isn't he?
He's basically, with this speech, brought the whole attention back to him because he got Brexit "done".
There's over 100 empty pushchairs and strollers lined up in a square in Ukraine, representing the number of children killed in this war to date. And there will inevitably be more. How the feck does this compare with leaving a trade bloc, voluntarily?
We already know that Johnson is capable of saying the most outrageous things, his entire life is scattered with it. If he isn’t lying, he is offending.
But the worse thing as far as this country is concerned is that he is a security risk.
That is why he should be gone.
He’s a incompetent idiot who would get away with murdering his granny and anyone who still think he’s a good bloke or worse still a good leader needs a psychiatrist
Galaxy what company was he keeping ?
Shocked to read this. Anybody keen to defend it ?
Makes me sick. To compare Brexit to being bombed out of your home and people dying is beyond cringeworthy it’s offensive.
Of course it will work - as there's no cure for stupid.

Headlines in both The Times and The Observer castigating Johnson’s speech. He will, of course, get away with it the way he gets away with everything….
... he will get away with it.
There are Brexiters who think the EU is an evil conspiracy - more than one has told me it's the Fourth Reich. And they will lap it up.
He will definitely get away with it. Doesn't matter what he does, or says, he has a very nationalistic support base - and they will agree with him. Because he's convinced them they're 'fighting' for their freedom.
It's absurd comparison - contemptuous. But it will work...

Johnson was keeping interesting company on the night Putin invaded Ukraine. Perhaps he is trying to distract from this.
I would normally switch HB off in a heartbeat rather than listen to her but credit where credit's due.

Even as a staunch Brexiteer, this is totally cringe from
@BorisJohnson
. Comparing the vote to leave the EU with the Ukrainian people fighting for their lives against a foreign invader is an insult to their bravery and sacrifice.

not sure being invaded by a larger neighbour is comparable to belonging to a trading pact with friendly neighbouring countries

Boris Johnson compares Ukraine's fight for freedom to "the British people voting for Brexit 'in large numbers' :
"it was because they wanted to be free to do things differently, for this country to be able to do things differently and run itself"

More (awkward?) linking of Ukraine by Johnson to domestic UK political views
'We believe people should be able to do what they like.. as long as they don't harm anybody else...
We don't need to be woke. We want to be free
That is why talented people are fleeing Russia right now'
Boris Johnson is offensive to the whole of humankind, and if you dont think he is you're part of the problem.
The Ukraine situation has given him his chance to play at being Churchill ,his hero, and whilst I'm no fan of his either at least he didn't behave like the village idiot in public .
Surely there cant be anyone who could with any conscience vote for him again?
Very good OP DaisyAnne.

John Grace had it bang to rights when he wrote that the Ukrainians had elected a comedian and got a leader while the British had elected a comedian and got a comedian. DaisyAnne, I agree with you that it is inexcusable. Desperate to 'divide and rule' once again over Brexit. Boris, you got it done, but you haven't made it work and that becomes even more painfully obvious with every day that passes.

He compared the "battles of Brexit" to those of Ukraine. If you can't believe your eyes, yes, he compared the "battles of Brexit" to those of Ukraine.
This speech was inexcusable. I saw it earlier and was horrified. Then you remember these are the tactics the New Right use - appealing to the lowest common denominator with Boris humour. This is the lowest he could sink. I can't see how anyone could find it funny but he was grinning away at the attendees.
They may have had to be seen attending to Covid, the cost of living crisis and the War in Ukraine but much of that, like Gove's temper tantrum, is PR designed window dressing. They were and still are only interested in politics, in winning the next election.
This wicked and immoral party will pretend Covid is over - goodness it's almost like no one died. Their MPs will tell you the only people who need food banks need to go out and get a job or increased hours. And although they will condemn the destructions of people's lives in Ukraine, they will do their level best to make it difficult, if not impossible, for them to come here.
Meanwhile, you can watch a very well made programme on Channel 4 tonight called "What if Putin goes Nuclear". At least some people are taking this seriously.
