You are the one who is totally out of step! Biden has made some comments that are not conducive to world peace.

The White House is constantly rectifying his loose words. He's very dangerous and needs to keep to a script which I'm sure had been written for him.

DH showed me the most appalling footage on Youtube, filmed from a helicopter that was taking out a Russian tank convoy. Each tank contains 12 boys men. It was a turkey shoot. They had no idea of what to do, no attempt to drive off the road under the concealing trees, no support fire..one by one, they simply exploded in a hellish ball of flames. Awful. 18 year old conscripts.

Love the way Biden referenced the rise in autocracy and populism and the threat to democracy.

Don't forget that Ukraine is a very big country and not all of it is overrun with the Russian army. Farmers will be getting on with the spring sowing. Whether or not they get to harvest it is a different matter.

And get to export it - that could be a problem.

We import some wheat from Canada too as their wheat is harder (does that mean higher in gluten?) and apparently better for breadmaking.

Some Middle Eastern countries, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Pakistan imported wheat from Ukraine and Russia so they will be suffering shortages now.

I thought that out bread flour comes from Canada though.

I think really the point probably is that there will be a worldwide shortage if flour. Unless governments intervene - the market is king and farmers will sell to the highest bidder, so I reckon however you look at it there will be a massive rise in the price if flour.

I don't imagine there will be much wheat exported from Ukraine this coming autumn, and as we rely heavily on Ukrainian wheat for flour our own farmers are going to have to step up to the mark and produce as much as they can. Sadly there is nothing like the amount of land in the UK suitable for growing wheat so we're in trouble.
Its time the govt stopped this 'rewilding' and similar schemes and encouraged farmers to get on with what they do best, producing high quality meat and vegetables for the home market.
