The BPAS and the Women's Equality Part are campaigning to save women's access to tele medical care for abortion. Basically this enables women who cannot because of fear, restrictions or other factors access face to face medical care to access care by phone, or on-line, and to have the medication prescribed for a safe at home abortion. This is under threat by parliament. We have until 29th August to tell MPs that the service for vulnerable and abused women must stay More details here bpas-campaigns.org/campaigns/our-last-chance/
Please support the campaign and contact your MP.

Done. The chances of my MP doing anything about it is zero, and I am afraid I am not hopeful about this, I hope I am wrong.

confused is taking the 'morning after pill' an abortion? This pill can be bought at chemists eg Boots.

Done

Shelmiss Fri 25-Mar-22 11:43:57

Done. However, my MP is the turncoat Christian Wakeford. Fat chance of him doing anything about it unless it's in his own self-serving interests.

It canSmileless2012 but some women are so controlled they are unable even to access a chemist alone. At present they can have a prescription given by telephone or on-line and not have to leave the house. This right will cease on 29th August unless MPs support it being maintained. Please ask yours to do so.

Thanks to everyone who has acted.

How does a woman in such a position get the pill she needs if she can't get to a chemist?

Total misinformation. The morning after pill does NOT cause a foetus to abort.
It works by delaying the release of an egg from the ovaries therefore preventing pregnancy.
Unfortunately Trisher is badly informed about the subject.
Members who continually peddle misinformation should be prevented from posting in my opinion.

I fully admit I may have misnamed the medication but the link to BPAS is there.
You can read all the details yourself.
If you don't want to do it that is fine.
If you think it's wrong report it.
Here's the link again bpas-campaigns.org/campaigns/our-last-chance/

You do a disservice to all vulnerable women by using the emotive term “home abortion” trisher
It is NOT an abortifacient.
You have done this on other threads where you insist you know what you are talking about but clearly do not.
Far from helping the cause (which I fully support) you have allowed other members on Gransnet to believe that the morning after pill kills off an unborn foetus. THIS IS NOT SO!
Many people would find this abhorrent so your thread accomplishes the opposite of what you intended. Do you understand this?
Think before posting misinformation.

Thanks for setting this straight Esspee; it's too important a message to be delivered with inaccuracies.

Thank you for setting us straight Esspee. I have noticed some other medical misinformation from trisher, but this is the worst so far.

Kalu Fri 25-Mar-22 21:33:19

I find the OP to be misleading by stating the morning after pill will result in foetal expulsion. NOT TRUE.

Especially when posting medical advice, it is imperative that FACTS are thoroughly sourced before posting.

Signed.
