Once again the government is showing that it knows the price of everything but the value of absolutely nothing.

Who, I wonder amongst their donors, have they promised the channel to?

Whose opinion on Broadcasting do we trust?

It obviously hit home enough for you to be your usual self.

What? One that likes the truth?

I'll go with that. smile

The U.K. is gradually being asset stripped, just as BHS was by Green.

Even Tory supporting brexit lover Kirsty Allsopp is against it! Never thought she and I would be singing from the same hymn sheet! And she says it even though her programmes are safe.

Have to say I agree with Urmstongran re channel 4 and GBNews.

Son just gave his notice to Channel 4 as have so many of his loyal hard working colleagues.

Do you mind telling us why he has decided to resign, Catterygirl?

I think I would have waited until I knew if I was on the redundancy list, or not.

Some people don't like to work for organisations whose aims they don't support, and don't value money over everything else.

That's why I'd be interested in what Catterygirl says, if she feels she would like to share it with us.

Maybe because some of us like channel 4 and it doesn't cost you anything? I loathe GB news, don't watch it but wouldn't stop you doing so. So, just why?

JaneJudge Wed 06-Apr-22 17:46:51

I like channel 4

Dreadful but vital reporting on their news this evening. This must be used for evidence.

Nadine Dorries attacks ‘lefty lynch mob’ over Channel 4 sale and says Thatcher wanted to privatise it.

The contentious decision to sell off the publicly owned broadcaster has sparked outrage from opposition parties

The only possible reason Johnson could have had for promoting Nadine Dorries to Minster for Culture must be to make himself look intelligent by comparison.

She did not even know that Channel 4 was not funded by the taxpayer. Ignorance, arrogance, stupidity and nauseating sycopanthy -she epitomises the very worst of Tory goverment ministers.

Richard Attenborough, the late Oscar-winning director and chair of Channel 4, would be “turning in his grave” to see the broadcaster privatised, his son has claimed.

Michael Attenborough said that Michael Grade – Channel 4’s chief executive from 1988 to 1997, who will monitor the privatisation process as chair of the broadcast regulator, Ofcom – was breaking a promise to his father by supporting the sell-off.

I suppose we will lose All4 as well. All that free catch up content, and Walter Presents. ( maybe Nadine just wants to get rid of Walter Presents because of its European content)

I think I would have waited until I knew if I was on the redundancy list, or not.

It’s nothing to do with the privatisation. They expected him to cover for colleagues who left or on maternity leave. The stress was unbearable, covering jobs for six or more colleagues and over 300 urgent emails a day. I think he was unlikely to be made redundant. He’s much more relaxed and looking forward to taking his holiday entitlement before starting his new job.

Channel 4 is not broken and does not need fixing. Leave it alone. Ch4 News is an endless saga of woe, woe and thrice woe aimed at Guardian readers like me but I switch to BBC when I've had enough.
