When I see this type of thread I tend to assume it is written by a journalist looking for fodder. I have many opinions, most wont be agreed with here. Unfortunately freedom of speech means everyone can twist/spin/lie about any person and any situation. In the end you dont know what or who to believe and I have to go back to my principles and how I was brought up to work hard, pay my way and be honest.

I’m just reading “failures of state” the inside story of Britain’s battle with coronavirus. I suggest reading this before you vote in any elections.

It's an excellent book, Mojomum. I bought a copy over a year ago. Written halfway through the pandemic!

I'm sure the authors would have much more to add now.. What with the government completely washing its hands of c19 and pretending everything is over while the infection rate rockets, and, I notice, so do the deaths. And children being put at risk of lifelong debility by a disease that attacks internal organs when mitigation to improve ventilation in schools and enclosed spaces would be a game changer...

I agree with Bluebelle! I am in my 71st year and despise this government more than any other ! They lie, they creep, they use their wealth to make more wealth! They do not CARE about the ordinary person on the street who is struggling! I want a confident, creative leader who will not always bang on about growth ! We need a period of calm, hard work, consultation with good minds who really understand the issues facing the vast majority of the population! My son in law received a £ 4.5 k pay rise and wasn’t happy ! My daughter has not got a pay rise ! We need disparities to be dealt with but it won’t happen in my lifetime !

I don’t know the answer-perhaps the large majority afforded to Johnson’s tories have made them feel even more entitled to get away with whatever they want. I have a feeling they may not do too well in the upcoming elections which may cause Tory councillors to lobby the national party.

I don't think its the Party just this Government. Both parties have had times when no one liked them or their leaders. Its time for a change even without Brexit or Covid-19. I don't think it will be much different, it's always the very poor or the very rich that benefit whilst the rest of us have to pay.

Well I disagree to some extent. Yes the long knives are out for Rishi Sunak and I’m not sure he’ll survive the scrutiny into his financial dealings. But Boris? No chance. He’s on a bounce from his support of Ukraine. Actually to be honest it makes me feel quite proud how he’s referred to by Zelinsky in such glowing terms and how much the UK is stepping up to the plate. Ben Wallace as his wingman certainly adds to his stature.

Leaks to the Grauniad will be from the usual suspects in the Tory party.

I can't believe anybody in their right mind can write the words "quite proud" in relation to Boris Johnson, the amoral king of sleaze, corruption, dishonesty, adultery and cruelty -remember how he burned £50 notes in front of homeless people while he was a member of the Bullingdon Club?

Okay, some good has come out of his Ukrainian visit in that now the UK is going to provide more arms, but anyone who's naive enough to believe that for Johnson it was any more than a publicity stunt designed to take attention away from not only Partygate but all the other despicable crap that the Tories have been embroiled in, is childlike in their innocence.

Now this comment does not change my views on Sir K, but he always looks very smart and has nice suits when Boris looks like a sack of potatoes, but he still has my vote. I like smart dressed men, just like my DH.

I've no idea how people can be so entrenched that. they can't see any good in this government despite what they've done for Ukraine. I've never voted Conservative and I doubt I ever will but I am capable of seeing that the UK has done well in supporting Ukraine.

Heaven help us. How many more years of broken promises, lies, crashing economy are people happy to vote for? Plenty if some of GN are anything to go by. This isn't about right vs left, Tory vs Labour, it is about those hundreds and thousands of decent Tory voters who have seen the light with this scum of a government, decent voters who loathe Johnson and his lies, his immorality, his greed, people who are now despairing and consider themselves politically homeless, the people who realise that Brexit was a lie, Johnson is a liar, and frankly anyone who thinks that this Johnson administration care about them is seriously deluded.

Zelenskyy at the moment is being nice to everybody. Of course he is, everybody's helping and he's grateful. He'll tell them what they want to hear and what their countries want to hear.

Surely the discussions about trans people just affects a minority of the population. I do think that the LP are carrying it a bit too far but this one thing should not deter people from voting for them in the next GE.

The same Ursula Von der Leyen who bungled vaccines and the Irish Border and tarnished the reputation of the European Commission, not elected by the people but appointed with no viable alternative. In the words of Christian Lindner ‘pulled, like a rabbit, out of a hat’. She has become a by word for misjudgements under pressure.
Positions so entrenched here that this woman is held up as a serious and capable politician.
