Will you vote Tory next time?

Just wondering if those who voted Conservative at the last General Election will do so next time? I ask the question in light of all the scandals associated with this Government, together with the lack of action taken to mitigate the effects of the ‘cost of living crisis’ (despite France, Spain and several other European countries giving much more help to their people), abandoning the Triple Lock (despite retaining it being in their manifesto).

You must be joking!

What planet are you on? Anyone but those fools who think we are all as idiotic as them

Yes, I will continue to vote Conservative because, they are the party that has done the most good for the people of this country, who do not even realise the fact, even in the extraordinary times that we are suffering at the moment, caused by external events, not by them.
What about Gordon Brown who sold off half of our gold reserves, and, Blair who took us to war in Iraq?

What good was having gold reserves to the country?

What did the Conservatives inherit from Labour? A mess. Then there was the global financial crisis. Or had you forgotten?

What on earth are you on about? The global financial crisis, triggered by the collapse of the sub-prime mortgage market in the US, was before the change of government. Gordon Brown's reaction was much respected at the time and prevented the UK experiencing a disaster. The economy was showing signs of recovery by 2010, when the Conservatives (specifically Osborne) introduced so-called austerity, which killed off the recovery and meant hardship for many. Even before Covid, the country's debt under the Tories had risen to unprecedented levels. Why on earth is history being rewritten? And, even more importantly, why are people falling for it?

I became politicized in 1979 after the Winter of Discontent which was truly awful where I lived at the time (Scotland). I have voted Tory since then, but will never vote Tory while BJ is leader and Pritti Patel a member of the cabinet.

Depends upon candidates but I most certainly won’t be voting labour or any other what political parties

pce612 Wed 13-Apr-22 14:27:43

Yes, because the alternative is the SNP here.

sharon103 Wed 13-Apr-22 14:26:18

Yes

Nannashirlz Wed 13-Apr-22 14:22:38

Well we spoiled for who to pick Tory who think rules don’t apply to them or labour who don’t know who a woman is ? how can we be so lucky.
Questions to ask when knock on your door are listed below. The ones that can answer will get my vote

No.

I'd choke to death on gravel before I voted for such an amoral, elitist, corrupt shower of sh*ts.

spabbygirl Wed 13-Apr-22 14:05:54

I live in a Tory safe seat & we're voting Lib Dem to get the tories out, I want a compassionate government not this load of lying cheats who have emptied the treasure and lied about everything, tories look after themselves, I want a labour/libdem coalition, I don't care who they have in charge its the policies I want

Farzanah Wed 13-Apr-22 13:55:53

The Conservative Foundation states that the Conservative Party has always stood for personal liberty, democracy and the rule of law.
What’s not to like ?
Not like these lefties who wish to deliver communism via the likes of Corbyn under the guise of socialism. ?

For a solicitor you are strangely unaware of the facts of the situation at the end of the last Labour government and very quick to parrot tory propaganda. I always thought that highly educated people were able to make objective judgements.

I'll not go into the minutiae but suffice it to say that it was prompt action by the Labour government that protected us from the worst effects of the GFC (like people losing their money from the banks going bankrupt), the economy was being restored and it was the insistence by the tories on 'austerity' that nearly plunged the UK into recession.

And, if you did know the facts of Starmer's family background you were happy to twist them in your first mention of it.

Can't vote for a party whose leader doesn't know what a woman is. The Tories are currently the party of sleaze and channelling as much as they can get away with to help their donors and mates become even wealthier. As as for the Lib Dems, not sure who they are any more. Feel I must vote but with no-one to vote for......

Even the lying, cheating devil who doesn't care about you or the country and is only in it for himself, and will say and do anything to further his own interests?

Really?

LisaAN Wed 13-Apr-22 13:47:32

Have voted Tory until the last election. I will not do so again. And why is it so important whether a party know what a woman is?

gillgran Wed 13-Apr-22 13:46:43

I think I've just posted on the "Partygate" thread, in error!!

Although it fits in there too.

I voted Conservative as I can't find an alternative that can lead our country forward.
"Better the devil you know", they say!

Nannina Wed 13-Apr-22 13:46:13

Not on your nelly- I’m hoping the Torres get a good kicking (figuratively of course) at the upcoming local elections. It may just get the message across that they are paid by us to serve us rather than themselves

Kryptonite Wed 13-Apr-22 13:41:22

Really don't know who to vote for.

volver Wed 13-Apr-22 13:41:21

In the context of this discussion, it doesn't matter how long it lasted.

The financial crisis came first then the change of government.

The opposite of what you wrote. Although I expect you meant the word "then" in the sense of "and let's not forget about"

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 13-Apr-22 13:37:16

How long did the financial crisis last volver?

I think it was the global financial crisis then the change of government.

Please don't tell me you are blaming a Labour government when the Tories have been in power for 12 years?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 13-Apr-22 13:34:37

And don’t give me that ‘so long as you’re ok’ insult so beloved of Labourites. You have no idea.
