Johnson and Sunak to be served fixed penalty notices. Will he still maintain he didn't break the law?

DaisyAnne Tue 12-Apr-22 18:51:33

They should but I don't feel like taking a bet on them doing so.

varian Tue 12-Apr-22 18:56:51

Sadly DaisyAnne, I agree with your prediction.

If "doing what you damn well like and getting away with it" was an Olympic event, Boris Johnson would be a good bet for the gold mesal.

Grandmabatty Tue 12-Apr-22 19:05:42

Maizie it is the lying that should get him removed. To lie to parliament is heinous. However I suspect he won't go. To misquote Macbeth, 'he is full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.'

CvD66 Tue 12-Apr-22 19:07:47

Party line: can't get rid of Johnson due to the Ukraine war.
Fact: Chamberlain resigned 10 May 1940 - 8 months into WW2
Asquith resigned after The Somme in WW1
This PM is a disgrace - and don't let one photo op with Zalensky fool you. He doesn't give a damn about the Ukrainians - if he did he would sort out the visa issue. It was a PR stunt to help save his bacon and try to improve Tory position for forth coming elections.

Boris Johnson must go, or our entire system of Government is threatened

No functioning country – on a basic moral, political or constitutional level – could allow Johnson to stay in office

*It hadn’t entered his head he was breaking the rules ,,,*
Bloody hell ……Go man and take the rest of the lying cheaters with you
Starmer said today ‘Britain deserves better’ and he is right

Oh come on, everyone!

He didn't realise it was against the laws his own government made.
It's such an easy mistake to make.

A bit of light relief. This was the SNP Party Election Broadcast tonight, just before the news. It was first shown last week. Whatever you think of the SNP, or of their message, they must be thinking they got the timing just right. It goes completely bonkers about 2:20 in. grin

(I won't be joining in any SNP or independence related discussions!)

Err... that's what I said.

Grandmabatty Tue 12-Apr-22 20:19:27

I was agreeing with you Maizie! Tone is hard to read on a text.

Hippie20 Tue 12-Apr-22 20:22:50

No morality. No respect for the relatives of the deceased who died alone.

Grayling Tue 12-Apr-22 20:27:31

As Volver has said the SNP election broadcast that was shown up here in Scotland tonight had already been broadcast and received a lot of critism as "Tory bashing" rather than setting out the party's plan for the future. The fact that it was repeated today rather proves the point.

Michael Fabricant now trying to claim that teachers and nurses were also gathering for drinks and parties during lockdown. What an embarrassing shower of self entitled dingbats.

Grannynannywanny Tue 12-Apr-22 21:31:25

The Royal College of Nursing have issued a statement following the ludicrous comments from the ignorant buffoon Michael Fabricant.

Sunak doesn’t need the ministers’s salary or the aggro. He should go and earn even more on the after dinner circuit.

Casdon Tue 12-Apr-22 21:44:14

Fabricant is Boris’ hair brother.

He’s a career politician. If there’s no chance of being PM he’ll go back to banking. He’s not in it to make the world a better place. And it looks like his wife wants out.

He's a disgrace.

Boozeups in hospitals?
He just hasn't a clue.

Curlywhirly Wed 13-Apr-22 06:47:35

I have just seen a clip of Johnson at PMQT saying that "all those who broke the rules will be disciplined' hmm, another lie!

Whitewavemark2 Wed 13-Apr-22 08:17:39

Nothing this government says can be believed. Just listening to Shapps on R4.

What a squirming little worm.

silverlining48 Wed 13-Apr-22 08:33:02

Just listening to Grant Schapps 8.10; Interview on the Today programme. Trying to justify BJs behaviour, yet again, and in my view, failing, Time after time others are left to explain his behaviour because Boris Johnson is never interviewed, He just hasn’t the capacity to deal with unexpected questions,
I wonder if it’s an emporers new clothes situation, keep bigging him up , whatever he says or does, send him out every day to visit random offices shops and factories and never ever let him be interviewed. Far too risky.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 13-Apr-22 08:42:58

The moral collapse of the Tory party and the Tory press is complete.
Every single politician and media mouthpiece that defends this spectacle of dishonesty, law-breaking and contempt and, even worse, hides behind Ukraine to do so, can never be respected or trusted again.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 13-Apr-22 09:03:35

I worked as a teacher for 40+ years, and volunteer in schools today : never found the after work drinks bar anywhere. Were they hiding it from me?

Luckygirl3 Wed 13-Apr-22 09:13:28

The 61% who believe BJ should resign is encouraging - election candidates cannot ignore this. He should have resigned ages ago over a whole list of misdemeanours - let us start with lying to the queen......

Grantanow Wed 13-Apr-22 10:53:58

We all want to move on, don't we? Ha ha.
