Is the demise of QE imminent?

Just that really. She's not being seen in public. She allowed PA to accompany her to DoW's memorial. M&H have flown in to see her.

Not looking good. I'm no monarchist, but it ain't gonna be good when she goes.

I'm just wondering if she did die before June have they got a look-alike hidden away somewhere who they can bring out so the celebrations still go ahead?
There must be an awful lot of money involved.
Is that why we aren't seeing much of her? So we don't spot the difference?
(apologies to the easily offended)

Thanks trisher gave me a good chuckle reading this grin

Would the Bank Holidays be cancelled ?

I was just thinking of the woman who used to appear as the Queen and wondering if she was stil alive, and waiting in the wings? Or who knows? it could already have happened. Maybe that's the real reason H&M left (sorry again. I'm dragging this thread further into the doo-doo)

Why not Rosie51? We talk about what will happen at our own funerals or what we want done when we go. Or we discuss our own parents deaths, how we will cope and what they have told us they wish to have done (or if not, what we envisage).

Why is the Queen so sacrosanct? From one angle, she is just a very elderly woman.

However, from my perspective, it is the effect on the country I was considering. We will feel her loss. Those rising up in power behind her are not her equal. The period of transition will be... challenging (if that is the right word?).

I think discussing our own or family funeral arrangements is fine, but doubt we'd want them publicised with the neighbours and other strangers chiming in. I know the plans for the Queen's funeral have been in place for decades and that they are updated and revised from time to time. I just don't think these plans and adjustments need to or should be aired publicly, there's no need for us to know until they are to be enacted. That's not making the Queen sacrosanct, that's affording her the same consideration as anybody else. I know I wouldn't want all and sundry frequently discussing what will happen when I die, I think I'd find it depressing to say the least.

Perhaps not Imminent, but certainly more of a possibility , the older she becomes , as it will be for us all.

Image result for when was the last time the queen was seen walking her dogs
According to Palace aides, the Queen has become so frail she is unable to walk her beloved dogs. Her Majesty has reportedly not taken her corgis out at Windsor Castle for the past six months, the Mirror reports. And Maw thought QE meant the ‘Quantitative easing’ by the banks. Understandable as ‘Her Majesty’ or HM wasn’t mentioned in the title. GagaJo you teach English too!

That was my immediate thought too when I saw the heading and I thought No, never! It's a useful monetary tool to deceive the public.

There's a difference between "Does anyone else think we'll lose the Queen fairly soon?" and "Is the demise of QE imminent?"

maddyone Sat 16-Apr-22 12:34:42

I don’t think any offence was meant by the question either. It’s a perfectly legitimate question in my opinion. My own mother is 94 and a half years old, and like the Queen, she is gradually fading, but the fade may last weeks, months, or years. We just don’t know when it will happen but she will die. We all do. Death is part of life. The Queen is very old and could die at any time. I hope she doesn’t and gets to see her jubilee but after that it doesn’t bother me much.

Redhead56 Sat 16-Apr-22 12:15:22

I don't think GagaJo meant to be offensive by simply asking a question.

Casdon Sat 16-Apr-22 12:08:35

And untrue, as she’s been seen this week, and seemed on fine form.

GrannyLaine Sat 16-Apr-22 12:07:21

It's one thing to consider our own mortality and of course at some point the Queen's life will end.
It is perhaps the use of the word 'imminent' that is both sensationalist and ill-considered.

Preparations are always made well in advance Rosie. Princess Diana's funeral was based on the plan already made for the Queen Mother.

I didn't know that about Diana's funeral. Yes I know plans have been in place for the Queen's funeral for decades and are updated from time to time. I accept that such a big operation would need advanced plans but I wouldn't want them being regularly publicly aired and discussed.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very fond of the queen.
But today we had another meeting about our street party and we got onto this subject. There was a lot of dark humour.

We skirted round it at ours

GagaJo Fri 15-Apr-22 21:17:51

I've been involved in 3 conversations about this. It is a topical subject, regardless of how tasteless some find it.

Agree Esspee not very kind and I don’t understand your QE Maw?

Quantitative Easing - has it come to an end?

Callistemon21 Fri 15-Apr-22 20:25:35

I’m not a royalist but I find speculation about the queen’s demise rather tasteless.

I agree.
She's not lost her marbles, that is evident.
Being physically fit but having dementia is worse I think.

I'm sure losing your lifelong partner and then having Covid would take it out of anyone.
