So ... Nicola Sturgeon was reported to Police Scotland on Sunday for breaking her own mask laws, a breach that could result in a £60 fine, reduced to £30 if paid within 28 days.

Only hours before Saturday's visit to the barber shop in East Kilbride, the SNP issued a press release in which she urged Scots to vote for her party on May 5 "if you are as outraged as I am about the Prime Minister's contempt for the law."

Oh dear.
While she too be asked to resign?

I don’t envy the heckling Ian Blackford from Skye will be subjected to when he stands up n the HoC.

I still wear a mask when out shopping but there have been a couple of occasions when I forgot when it was still legally required. Once I remembered because an assistant was staring at me. Another time I'd walked to a local convenience store and remembered as I got there that I didn't have a mask with me. Not wanting to walk home to get one I asked the doorman if I could pull my top up over my face! He let me! I had to shop one handed to hold it there, and paying was very tricky!

There is a big difference between forgetting and deliberately ignoring rules and lying about it later. I say 'Give her a break'. She at least had the good sense to keep some restrictions in place for longer. If I'd been fined for occasional slip ups when I've tried very hard to stick to the rules I'd be upset.

I see, well if the United Kingdom actually DID get united, and ALL had same rules at same time instead of acting like they're all seperate countries then maybe every one would know all the different rules at same time-??? But they dont- so WE dont..However, i still stand by fact that BJ & his cronies knew what they were doing, and continued to lie, so not a contest. They just never thought they'd get caught, or if they did, that they'd be prosecuted for it.But to be charged a paltry sum is ridiculous- its hardly a deterrent, is it?They probably spend more on coffees.Or in Boris's case, takeaways.?

Not the first time she has forgotten by a long way but the police wouldn’t dare fine her up here, same as they won’t investigate when opposition msp’s are harassed , threatened etc,
Sturgeon is the biggest hypocrite ever

But if gov't are saying we must go back to being 'maskless' then that's not really an issue is it?

Masks were still legally required in Scotland. We're a different country. With our own laws. What the WM government says doesn't automatically apply here.

We are a different country, with different laws, but they changed on Monday. Mask wearing ceased to be mandatory on the 18th (sorry)

But wearing a mask was still mandatory on Saturday when she visited the barbers. Which is why I used the past tense.

What i really want to know is why were BORIS & HIS PALS FINED SO LITTLE- when 'ordinary' folk were fined Such HUGE AMOUNTS for breaking the SAME RULES during lockdown???Surely to charge the Tories hundreds of pounds also would have been much more fair- and also made more dosh for the coffers than a paltry sum that they can easily afford, whilst joe public could not? It would be better to make an example of MP's surely, than everyday ordinary folk.???

However it can only be damaging to her going forward into the local elections.

Well. We'll see.

Yearoff Tue 19-Apr-22 14:07:41

I think omitting to wear a mask for a brief period is slightly further down the scale of “breaking Government guidelines” than attending multiple parties. However it can only be damaging to her going forward into the local elections. She hasn’t got a war to deflect from her lapse.

Nannina Tue 19-Apr-22 14:05:20

I don’t really have an opinion on Nicola Sturgeon other than she seems more statesman like than Boris the clown. If I remember rightly wasn’t Boris bumbling around on a hospital visit without a mask?

But if gov't are saying we must go back to being 'maskless' then thats not really an issue is it? (Personally i still wear one, as 3 of us in our house has medical problems) but to my mind how can what NS did compare to Boris and his cronies partying and lying about it- and it wont have gone down well with the Queen either as it was, well, a sad time for her.Pity the reigning monarch no longer says "off with their head" then.....

Cossy ??

So sorry a bit slow off the mark here !! I know little about NS, but still see every day several dozen “BJ” supporters and tend to fire off as I’m still staggered he has any support !!

volver Tue 19-Apr-22 13:54:58

satire sarcasm.

Now I'm losing the ability to make sentences.

volver Tue 19-Apr-22 13:53:22

cossy, mar76...

Just for clarity and because Petera isn't actually here....you need to change around the names in her post. Its satire.

Sturgeon's never been sacked. Johnson didn't put on a mask and go home. etc.

Jeezy peeps.

Dandylion Tue 19-Apr-22 13:51:12

The difference between Nicola Sturgeon and Boris the Bed Hopper is that she is a woman and he is a ‘man’ - so no contest on the online vitriol.

MaizieD Tue 19-Apr-22 13:49:33

ReadyMeals

That's not the first time Sturgeon has had to publicly apologise for forgetting her mask

Johnson was continually seen with no mask, even when visiting hospitals.

Has he ever apologised? Not to my knowledge

Cossy Tue 19-Apr-22 13:47:25

Petera

Johnson has also been sacked from at least one previous job role for lying, he also illegally prorogued parliament, he also “excused” Cummings breaking the law and then allowed him a press conference…. The list is endless frankly, but never mind this will take the heat of all this governments failings - let’s give him and NS one way tickets to Rwanda !

Cossy Tue 19-Apr-22 13:43:16

Mistymitts

Will he ? Will Johnson get what he deserves way way ahead in 2024 ? Sadly there seems to be a whole new class of “Boris” worshippers for whom this terrible government can do know wrong. We all have such conveniently short memories, this party’s MPs were the worst offenders in the MP expenses scandal, so easily forgotten and forgiven and voted back in. It is not petty to expect those who make the law to then uphold it… if it was just his birthday and he’d admitted it immediately then people are right to overlook it but it’s not is it ! He’d still be lying had he not been “caught out”

Tinydancer Tue 19-Apr-22 13:43:13

TopsyIrene: I have come across one person here down south and the only reason she dislikes Nicola is because "She doesn't like Boris and she has too much to say." Seriously?
Anyone who supports the liar and lawbreaker Boris Johnson as PM should hang their head in shame.

mar76 Tue 19-Apr-22 13:39:42

Petera
How do you know BJ put a mask on?

volver Tue 19-Apr-22 13:39:00

Feel ashamed? Really? For going in a shop for a couple of minutes without a mask on?

World's gone mad...

Cossy Tue 19-Apr-22 13:35:01

She was foolish and it was an oversight and yes she should apologise and feel ashamed BUT, for me she didn’t stand up in parliament and say I always wear my mask, I’ve never forgotten my mask ! Johnson is a proven out and out liar in this job role and some of his previous job roles and in my opinion a man with no professional or personal morals !

Buttonjugs Tue 19-Apr-22 13:31:55

There is no comparison, ridiculous to suggest there is.
