“
Nicola Sturgeon has denied her government staged a cover-up over its decision to hand a scandal-hit ferries contract to a shipyard owned by an independence supporter after it admitted key documents “cannot be located”.
The First Minister said it was “regrettable” that there was no paper trail showing why her administration had handed the contract to Ferguson Marine after ferry chiefs warned the award was too risky and asked for it to be withdrawn.
She argued that her government had provided lots of other information but “this particular piece of written evidence” was not available.
But the Tories said it was “inconceivable” that there was nothing in the Scottish Government's records to show why SNP ministers pressed ahead without a full refund guarantee, a standard clause in shipbuilding contracts.
The ferries’ cost has since spiralled from £97 million to £250 million and their construction is running five years late.“
Well, well. ??
Oh c’mom! Only a complete pilchard would swallow that one.
The Scots love her despite the ferry scandal, hopeless health service, failing education, and the drugs explosion.
Bye bye Scotland.
MORE missing paperwork, really? Time after time. She must think we haven’t seen the first fall of snow.

Thank you Maw for explaining my situation! ?
Ive never exceeded my holiday allowance MaizieD. It’s always been 180 days in a year just that more recently it’s 90 days in a 6 month period. That doesn’t impact on me either.
?
That is an excellent description "meaningless words Ug " and so so true always have been and always will be. No change there then.
I don’t live in Spain Coastpath! ?
I don’t think we can do that can we?
You will be allowed to spend up to 90 days in Spain, and then you must leave the country. You will not be able to return until 180 days have passed since your date of entry into Spain (or Schengen). However, you can divide the 90-day period into two (45 days each) and spend each of them in Spain during the 180 days
Coastpath
Apologies if I have mistaken, but I thought Urmstongran spent half the year in Spain.
She used to, but she's restricted to 90 days now...
^ I just happen to think it’s citizens deserve better.^
I don't find such high minded ideals particularly convincing from someone who was prepared to deprive citizens of the UK of the benefits of free and frictionless trade with our nearest enormous market; likewise free and frictionless movement of people for employment and settlement in 27 of our nearest neighbours and pose a huge threat to the precarious but much valued peace in NI which held for at least 2 decades after 30 years of bloody warfare. Not to mention being instrumental in installing the most corrupt PM the UK has ever had to suffer under..
Meaningless words , Ug, meaningless.
Apologies if I have mistaken, but I thought Urmstongran spent half the year in Spain.
I always tell people I'm Scottish, but my passport says British. DH, who has lived here more that 60 years can't do that. Because he was born somewhere else. So he'll never be Scottish until we have that as a nationality.
It's sometimes hard to ignore the OPs of some posters especially if they are skewed views, based on opinion not fact and obtained second hand or from a distance (Spain, not even the UK perhaps)
Hmm, a bit judgemental, perhaps? And as far as I know Urmstongran is actually resident in, Urmston. The clue is in the username

And Volver while you may be technically correct about the issue of nationality , I am sure that you agree that those of us who are Scots take violent exception to being designated anything else (as can often happen with “furriners “)
Blair has a lot to answer for in my opinion. ?
Devolved governing was his idea. Maybe the original idea of ‘administrations’ was sound enough but over time I think not.
Apologies volver I always thought you lived in Scotland as you bang the drum for Indy2. So you won’t get a vote on it either?
Jeezy peeps. The level of knowledge is laughable.
You must be pretending, surely?
BTW, your stepfather's nationality has never been Scottish. There is no Scottish nationality. That's what we want to have.
I am grateful to Volver et al for responding to the original post. I knew nothing of the these issues and appreciate some balance and facts, especially as they come from someone living in the actual country to which they relate.
It's sometimes hard to ignore the OPs of some posters especially if they are skewed views, based on opinion not fact and obtained second hand or from a distance (Spain, not even the UK perhaps) and presented in a confrontational, tabloid-shock-horror way complete with pictures and waving flags.
The initial response is always - this person is seeking to provoke without providing evidence - and that encourages those with an enquiring mind and a need for facts and fairness to seek out the truth.
Not this thread vegansrock. Boris either goes (I hope not) or he doesn’t. Makes no big difference to me now.
This thread is to highlight incompetence at the highest level in Scotland by the SNP. I just happen to think it’s citizens deserve better.
Must be awfully stressful waiting for those ferries to be up and running - at an eye watering cost too now.

Urmstongran
Cos its my bl**dy country she's having a go at and ignoring isn't an option. That really is a pathetic comment.
volver you have an awful lot to say about Boris and the Tory government! I never say ‘butt out you don’t live here!’.
You are entitled to an opinion on whatever topic you like.
As I am.
?volver you have an awful lot to say about Boris and the Tory government! I never say *‘butt out you don’t live here!’.
Urmstongran.
I live in the UK. They are my government too. ??♀️
But they are your only government. Why, if you want to keep the Union, aren't you fighting for and English Parliament and an overarching UK one? That would be how unions usually work.

People who find the OP's
obsessioninterest in Scotland's affairs tiresome could just ignore the threads she starts. Why don't they? Why do they feel defensive?
Whose feeling defensive? Angry at the arrogance of others, pehaps.
It was Scottish Daisyanne. Him and his brother (who is now 97y).
Some posters like to criticise other countries and their governments as deflection from criticism of the mess made by the U.K. government which they will defend at all costs. It’s a “don’t look here - look over there” response.
Apologies volver I always thought you lived in Scotland as you bang the drum for Indy2. So you won’t get a vote on it either?
Going back to Nicola Sturgeon....
She has pledged to answer the public audit committee’s questions about the scandal “to the very best of my ability”.
It has been alleged the ferry contracts were rushed through before the specifications were finalised to deliver a political boost to Ms Sturgeon at the 2015 SNP conference and the following year's Holyrood election.
Graham Simpson, the Scottish Tories’ Shadow Transport Minister, has said: “In this day and age, it’s almost inconceivable there is not an electronic trail of how this fateful decision was made, even if there is no paper copy.
“And Nicola Sturgeon has the audacity to claim she’s being open and transparent on this scandal. It’s clearer than ever we need a public inquiry to get to the bottom of this murky affair.”
volver you have an awful lot to say about Boris and the Tory government! I never say ‘butt out you don’t live here!
Yes she does !!!
Urmstongran
^ I assume he could not have have been called upon to fight and defend Scotland.^
Hmm. He was based in Kenya during WW2 and his brother (still alive) was on active service in the North Atlantic convoys. Scary stuff the tales he shares. Does that count Daisyanne?
What was his nationality at that time Urmstongran? I have a feeling allegiance means nothing to you, although I imagine you support the pound shop patriotism we see.
Urmstongran
Maybe because those other countries are not part of our Union DaisyAnne? Big difference.
Why is it different? Many countries form Unions but are not seen as "owned" by their partners.
No wonder Brexiteers didn't have a clue about how the EU worked and the fact that each country was still sovereign.
GrannyGravy13
We have threads discussing Ukraine, USA, The French Elections in fact many Countries are discussed on the News & Politics Forums by members of GN who do not live in these Countries or in some cases never visited them.
Why is it that Scotland and in particular Ms.Sturgeon and SNP are off limits ?
They are not but the views of the non resident stepfather remind me of the views of an erstwhile poster on GN not resident inUk. Who was told frequently she had no right to comment on UK issues……
