Oh Nicola! We’re not as green as we’re cabbage looking! ???????

Nicola Sturgeon has denied her government staged a cover-up over its decision to hand a scandal-hit ferries contract to a shipyard owned by an independence supporter after it admitted key documents “cannot be located”.

The First Minister said it was “regrettable” that there was no paper trail showing why her administration had handed the contract to Ferguson Marine after ferry chiefs warned the award was too risky and asked for it to be withdrawn.

She argued that her government had provided lots of other information but “this particular piece of written evidence” was not available.

But the Tories said it was “inconceivable” that there was nothing in the Scottish Government's records to show why SNP ministers pressed ahead without a full refund guarantee, a standard clause in shipbuilding contracts.

The ferries’ cost has since spiralled from £97 million to £250 million and their construction is running five years late.“

Well, well. ??

Oh c’mom! Only a complete pilchard would swallow that one.

The Scots love her despite the ferry scandal, hopeless health service, failing education, and the drugs explosion.

Bye bye Scotland.

MORE missing paperwork, really? Time after time. She must think we haven’t seen the first fall of snow.

Scotland is not off-limits GrannyGravy. However, we do not discuss Ukraine, the USA, or France as if we have ownership or agency over those countries.

If he hasn't lived there for 60 years, owning a property should not give him a right to try and influence how those who owe allegiance to that country live their lives. Presumably he is now a citizen of another country.

Sixty years is a lifetime. I assume he could not have have been called upon to fight and defend Scotland. No, he can have an opinion - no one can stop him. An "opinion" is worth nothing when that is all it is. However, he is not entitled to use it to try and influence those whose country it is - wherever they came from - who have shown loyalty to Scotland. No one, including Grannies on GN are obliged to take anything he says, via any conduit, into account.

We have threads discussing Ukraine, USA, The French Elections in fact many Countries are discussed on the News & Politics Forums by members of GN who do not live in these Countries or in some cases never visited them.

Why is it that Scotland and in particular Ms.Sturgeon and SNP are off limits ?

Kalu, excellent post!

Kalu Sat 23-Apr-22 09:07:04

Like others, I knew by the thread title who the OP was …...again!

Why the OP feels the need to constantly point out what is wrong in a country where she or her stepfather do not live I find very strange, especially as there is so many wrongdoings happening in her own country.

I was recently admitted to an NHS hospital in Glasgow. A private, ensuite room and the treatment I received was first class. I have no complaints.

Yes, we have problems in our country but we are not ignorant of or incapable of realising such wrongs. A wasted energy OP when you really should be concentrating on the many wrongs in your own country which affect the whole of the UK, or are you deflecting from the disastrous effect your dear leader is having on all of us. Or, is it a case of such anger against the Scots for wanting to remain in the EU? Either way, it is not really any of your business how another country wishes to run their affairs.

£600k is a drop in the Atlantic compared to the Russian money “donated” to the Tories- maybe Nicola should get some oligarch mates.

Marydoll Sat 23-Apr-22 09:00:51

Perhaps he should join GN, cut out the middle woman and participate in the discussion, the himself. wink

Lucca Sat 23-Apr-22 08:56:57

Oh ! I didn’t realise the oft mentioned stepfather didn’t live in Scotland !!! That takes the oatcake.

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:52:50

Actually I take that back.

Of course he's entitled to an opinion.

He's not entitled to have it listened to or acted on though.

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:50:44

No, not really. I wonder if he knows my auntie in Inverness? She's lived there nearly 80 years. Or our friend who was a GP there. Or my cousin the pharmacist. Oh no. He won't know them. Because he doesn't live there, does he?

DaisyAnne Sat 23-Apr-22 08:49:16

So he isn't living there and hasn't for 60 years?

Urmstongran Sat 23-Apr-22 08:45:59

And only sold his family house there last year! Been paying dues to Inverness council for all those 60 years. Plus all utilities. I think he’s quite entitled to an opinion don’t you?

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:41:39

Is that the stepfather who left his country and went to live somewhere else 60 years ago?

DaisyAnne Sat 23-Apr-22 08:40:33

Casdon

How did I know just by reading the title that you had started this post Urmstongran? Call it intuition.

Why so interested in another countries govenment? It's simply another destraction suggested by those far-right sources UG reads.

I'd call it boring and predictable.

Urmstongran Sat 23-Apr-22 08:33:08

And my stepfather’s concerns about how his country is an embarrassing shambles under the SNP. When he talks with his cousins in Wester Ross he despairs these days.

tickingbird Sat 23-Apr-22 08:32:30

Of course it’s weird and that’s being charitable. Lost paperwork, convenient amnesia? Del Boy dodgy!

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:32:05

Urmstongran

Is the £600k in the Indy2 war chest?

Yes. Because that's what it was raised for. confused

Finger on the pulse there, Urmstongran

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:29:49

The only thing that's weird is the Telegraph's obsession with a wee wummin from Ayrshire. ??

Urmstongran Sat 23-Apr-22 08:28:23

Is the £600k in the Indy2 war chest?

And this?
Does no-one in Scotland think this is beyond weird?

Better together, a strong United Kingdom ??

Better together - a stronger Europe!!!!

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:18:40

Maybe you can explain in detail the story about the £600,000 pounds for those that don't know it Maudi?

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:17:12

A Scots one.

Maudi Sat 23-Apr-22 08:16:37

But whose bank that's the problem ?

volver Sat 23-Apr-22 08:13:47

where's the £600,000 gone.

It's in the bank.

But that's not nearly such a good story, is it?
