Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

Callistemon21 Sun 24-Apr-22 16:42:36

He does have previous

Madgran77 Sun 24-Apr-22 16:39:48

What strikes me is that they all seem to think he is helplessly distracted by the sight of a pair of legs crossing and uncrossing!! The good old "poor men cant control themselves" excuse! Give me strength!!

tickingbird Sun 24-Apr-22 16:32:12

She isn’t laughing. And nor should you be.
Angela Raynor is increasingly proving herself to be a good deputy leader. She’s more integrity than Johnson or the MPs who support him

Well I have been laughing. I did see the article in the Mail online but didn’t bother to read it - it featured a screenshot of Sharon Stone!

Do I believe it? Of course not and I have nothing against Angela Raynor. Unlike some I refuse to get wound up about such nonsense.

Callistemon21 Sun 24-Apr-22 16:22:03

And glorious hair!
I have hair envy

(Very shallow, sorry)

MissAdventure Sun 24-Apr-22 16:19:39

The cheek of her.
All working class and leggy.

Callistemon21 Sun 24-Apr-22 16:18:55

Well said, Andrea Leadsom and Amber Rudd.

If Angela Rayner was fidgeting it could be for any number of reasons, one being that she was becoming more and more exasperated with Johnson.

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 24-Apr-22 16:12:05

Golly - a woman (and one of working class origins !) has legs...jolly dangerous for the boys, doncha know?

..

Nannee49 Sun 24-Apr-22 15:59:12

There's no way on God's Earth that a male Tory MP would be accused of crossing and uncrossing his legs to flash a trouser bulge to distract a female PM.

That's the big difference and the total misogyny Allsorts.

You are right in saying it's the wearying same old, same old - idiot Tory politicians thinking a woman is fair game for a bit of old school denigration. You can't see through it but there's plenty of us who can and who will vote accordingly.

Nannee49 Sun 24-Apr-22 15:30:49

Late apologies for typo...it is of course Rayner

MissAdventure Sun 24-Apr-22 14:47:29

It pisses me off that people here get up in arms about being called "ladies", and they don't agree with man bashing, but Angela Rayner is fair game. angry
I wonder why that would be.

growstuff Sun 24-Apr-22 14:07:32

... or Andrea Leadsom:

growstuff Sun 24-Apr-22 14:05:53

I can't say I've ever agreed with Amber Rudd about much, but at least she has a bit more grace than you Allsorts.

growstuff Sun 24-Apr-22 14:03:19

Allsorts

She makes me cringe. Loud mouthed and don’t agree with anything she says, she’s like Keir in as much they haven’t an idea between them just keep on pecking away at old scabs. Why is it fare game to say what you like about a man but not a woman, we wanted equality and we have it. I think men should start campaigning for equal rights..Don’t like the article you say is in the Mail, there again don’t read it. I just think everyone is entirely weary of going over old ground and more interested I tested in say the new trade deal with India.

Hmm ... I'm trying to think of a male MP I could lust after and whose background would make me feel superior ... it's a difficult one!

Well that's definitely something we agree on Zoejory. wink

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 13:45:20

The way we're going nobody will want to become a politician. Social media and the press are making sure about that.

I'm off to get outraged about Rishi's swimming pool now.

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 13:42:53

If you are looking for the actual words "Tories are quite nice, really" then you don't know how propaganda works.

That's funny. I wasn't actually looking for that

MaizieD Sun 24-Apr-22 13:42:46

What is amusing me is that the picture of Rayner on the front of the Mail (it was all over twitter, so I could hardly avoid seeing it) was definitely not taken in the commons and her legs are probably hidden from Johnson's view as the dispatch box and the table it sits on are between him and her.

Quotes:

Angela Rayner blasts Tories over Basic Instinct claims

She wins support from across the political divide at Westminster over claims

Conservative peer Lord Daniel Finkelstein said: 'I think the MP or MPs responsible for saying this are shameful.

Andrew RT Davies, the leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Senedd, said: 'This is a disgrace.'

If you are looking for the actual words "Tories are quite nice, really" then you don't know how propaganda works.

Zoejory I wondered what point you were making. Now I've got it. Its abundantly clear that the Mail made the whole thing up. Maybe they got some tame Tory MP to say what they wanted them to say. But sympathy and excuses for the Conservative Party is not the point of this story.

Oh, and check your film references.

Yes I know, volver Wrong film. With early onset dementia I tend to make ghastly errors.

I'm not giving either sympathy or excuses. I just want to know who said it!

In a court of law anecdotal evidence isn't admissible.

JaneJudge Sun 24-Apr-22 13:37:42

There is another article now, I have looked and I blame you volver which says

Ms Rayner, 41, a grandmother who left school at 16 while pregnant and with no qualifications before becoming a care worker, has frequently landed blows on the PM in the Commons.

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 13:35:20

Where is the Mail's article as to how the Tories are quite nice.?

I've not seen one for a long time. It's apparent they want Boris and his gang out.

I am no Tory sympathiser but I fail to see how these articles are being taken seriously. All they do is whip up those who despise Boris etc etc so the press will win again. Getting the masses to point fingers at how vile etc etc the Tories are.

Where is any evidence? I keep banging on about this but I want names.

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 13:32:18

volver nice one ?

volver Sun 24-Apr-22 13:27:03

Sorry if people are offended, but here we go.

Mail makes up story about Rayner and cites unnamed Tory MP.

Whole world gets angry about it.

Tory MPs start saying what an awful thing it is.

Mail makes a new article about how the Tory Party is quite nice, really. Whilst repeating all the stuff about 41 year old grandmothers.

I can't think I'm the only one who sees this? The Mail are manipulating Tory sympathisers. ??‍♀️

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 13:21:59

Mad Nad? She is definitely at least a little bit in love with Bodger
