Just that really

growstuff Tue 03-May-22 15:41:43

"Elsie" needs to contact her local council if she receives pension credit because she probably is eligible but will have to apply for it.

growstuff Tue 03-May-22 15:42:58

Same for you Daftbag. If you live in an a-d house, you're eligible.

Zonne Tue 03-May-22 15:49:19

I believe Elsie is band E - a point Suzanna made, and Johnson ignored - so isn’t eligible for the £150.

growstuff Tue 03-May-22 15:51:42

Ah! I missed that. However, if she's receiving Pension Credit, it's possible that she could apply for a discretionary award from her council. Whatever her situation, it's a load of hassle.

DiamondLily Tue 03-May-22 15:51:59

Those eligible, in bands A-D only:

thank you for the YouTube link. Well......Susanne Reid has gone right up in my estimation, she really wouldn't let him do his usual bluster, and the look on her face as she tried to keep control! Frankly anyone who votes Tory on Thursday after watching that needs to have a good long hard look at themselves.

growstuff Tue 03-May-22 15:54:01

But also:

*8. What support can I access if I am not eligible for the council tax rebate?
The government has provided all councils in England with funding to provide discretionary support to any household that is in financial need, regardless of council tax band. Each council will develop and publicise eligibility criteria and the claims process for this funding.*

She should have a look. She might be lucky (I agree that's not really the point).

Good job she doesn’t suffer from travel sickness. There’s always the library I suppose - do you still get free newspapers and computer access? All joking apart the reality is that this is what people are having to do, if not now, certainly when the autumn comes. All cudos to Elsie for finding a cheap way to keep warm. Maybe she could entertain her friends on the ride giving “On the Buses” a total new meaning. Perhaps this is the solution, Boris, apart from re-opening coal mines. Take out a few seats and put some tables on the bus. Maybe a drinks machine?

OakDryad Tue 03-May-22 16:13:39

I just watched the clip again. Reid said Elsie's home is in band F so she isn't eligible for the £150 but Johnson wasn't listening.

Lorraine Kelly's riposte to Johnson's final line of the interview...

GrannyGravy13 Tue 03-May-22 17:10:25

Just skim watched the interview, not impressed.

Luckygirl3 Tue 03-May-22 18:04:12

I saw a preview of what he might say, which apparently was going to include the words "Ukraine's finest hour" - I did not think I could cope with that. He really does think he is Churchill, the sad little man. Don't know whether he actually said that in the end.

I watched about 10 minutes of it and then fell asleep but the little I saw I was impressed that Susanna was trying to get a word in edgeways and that clown was going on as usual about how marvellous he is. In case he does not know it is not only chicken which has gone up in price.

How in God's name would he know? I would think he would need a map to find their kitchen.

A lying, blustering fool.

vegansrock Wed 04-May-22 03:43:08

I don’t know why anyone would bother to watch this- just seeing him legs akimbo with tie hanging over his crotch was enough to make me queasy. You know he will just bluster, lie and not answer the questions, which is what all the reviews said.

This is the front page of the Mail today. The day after Johnson took part in that terrible interview, when we all know his rather unusual relationship with the truth, when we all know what he's like at PMQs.

Who are the Mail talking about?

Keir Starmer.

We've reached peak absurdity.

Riverwalk Wed 04-May-22 09:40:13

The big oaf needs to show some respect and not sit with his legs so wide apart - the slimy git.

He wouldn't sit in such a manner opposite the Queen.

Casdon Wed 04-May-22 09:42:25

The Mirror is on the money though volver.

FannyCornforth Wed 04-May-22 09:42:40

D’you reckon? I bet he would envy

Zonne Wed 04-May-22 09:44:01

I want to know why right-wing men of a certain age and size believe that overlong ties are a good idea.

Is it the equivalent of ‘vertical stripes make you look thinner’, or is it some secret code to enable them to find each other in crowded places?

FannyCornforth Wed 04-May-22 09:47:24

Zonne do they use them to hold onto and lead each other;
similar to how elephants sometimes use their trunks to guide the younger ones? ?

Happygirl79 Wed 04-May-22 11:21:15

The cost of living crisis will at least finish him off as PM. Because he will do nothing to help us

It's disgraceful to make people beg for help. It's done this way to discourage people

Dillonsgranma Wed 04-May-22 11:33:31

My god! That was awful. Toe curlingly awful ?

heathcliff1989 Wed 04-May-22 11:35:24

He is an awful prime minister at an awful time - I’m surprised he didn’t mention the vaccine roll out he normally does when he’s cornered. All Boris cares about is Boris and power. Lying cheating blustering buffoon always has been and always will be….
