Should NATO be putting boots on the ground in Ukraine?

I watch various news programmes, and I read various articles on the situation in Ukraine. I’ve seen a number of articles where journalists ponder the situation in Ukraine. I’ve seen diplomats and high ranking British military give interviews on television. It seems to me from my observations that the Ukrainians cannot win this horrendous war without far more military support from the west and almost certainly without boots on the ground in Ukraine.
Should the west and Nato arm Ukraine properly with the planes and tanks it keeps asking for and should Nato get involved by putting boots on the ground? Many interviewees are of the opinion that Putin will not resort to the use of nuclear weapons if NATO becomes involved because he understands that NATO would retaliate.
If the west doesn’t become involved are we complicit in allowing Putin’s armies to commit the most horrendous crimes against civilians? Can we live with this on our consciences?

So what will stop Putin going further? If we don't react now because of the nuclear threat will we do it at any point?

I agree nadateturbe. I think Putin sees the inaction and is emboldened by it. As far as he sees it, no one will react whatever he does and therefore he has the freedom to do whatever he thinks fit.

I most certainly wouldn’t be in favour of NATO boots on the ground in Ukraine. No easier way of escalating the situation into NATO countries. Of course if Putin were to commit an act of aggression in a NATO country there will be full on war anyway. I don’t think he’s quite that stupid. I hope he isn’t.

I do hope you’re right GSM. I think it’s imperative that Sweden and Finland join Nato as quickly as possible. I saw it reported that a Russian helicopter made an incursion into Finland air space only a few days ago. The Russians appear to be trying to trying to ‘bait’ the west and see what happens.

Unfortunately I keep thinking of those poor people in Mariupol incarcerated in the steel works. Their suffering cannot be imagined. It’s quite unbearable.

We have to hope that Putin will not attack a Nato country as that would be WW3.
It is hard to see what the Russians are doing in Ukraine and frustrating that we can't help them without escalating the situation with many more lives being lost.

That's my feeling Maddyone but I'm no expert in these matters.
I hope we are wrong.
