The first transgender Barbie doll has been launched to highlight the importance of "acceptance at every age".

What, if any, are your thoughts?

volver Thu 26-May-22 14:31:52

OK, for anybody who is still triggered or confused about this.

As far as I know, Barbies don't have sexual organs. Neither do Kens. This particular Barbie is no different. But its face looks like Lauren Cox, who happens to be transgender.

Nothing to see here, move along please.

Anyone remember 'MyLife as an Animal'?

It turned out that being a successful human member of one group of dogs isn't a guarantee of the same with a different breed.

As well as having no visual sexual organs this Barbie has two hearts. What's the world coming to?

FarNorth Thu 26-May-22 14:37:00

How do you know about the two hearts?

Does that mean that the thread is now closed to any further discussion?

Grammaretto Thu 26-May-22 14:37:43

Farzanah

Is this thread just masquerading as a woke or transgender bashing opportunity I wonder?

Not by me It is light-hearted. Are we not safe from paranoia on any thread?

We don't do jokes here Petera. wink

Never had a Barbie doll but I did have Tressy. She had a little key to put in her back so that you could adjust the length of her hair.

It was the highheeled shaped feet that "got" me. Why?
At least action man had proper feet.
Is there an action girl/LGBT?

My auntie used to have feet like that; she was never without her heels on, ever.
By the time she was in her late 70s she could barely hobble shock

I just thought a change of topic would be a nice change.
This made me laugh!

Grannynannywanny Thu 26-May-22 14:48:29

Chewbacca I had a Tressy. I was very upset when the key broke in the mechanism and her hair was left fully extended. However that situation didn’t continue for too long. My little brother thought he’d do me a favour and took the scissors and gave her a permanently short style!

Maybe Barbie is going out of date and they are just trying their best to keep relative.

I never liked her. Apart from her toes. I would chew them. The plastic was soft and terribly tempting back in the day. A bit like toothpaste caps. Loved those as well.

FarNorth Thu 26-May-22 14:56:31

My granny always wore shoes with chunky heels. She told me her feet would no longer be able to cope with flat shoes.

FarNorth Thu 26-May-22 14:57:05

Are you sure volver?

volver Thu 26-May-22 14:58:46

I'm sure that some people think its clever or funny to try to provoke other posters. And that ain't no joke. smile

GrannyGravy13 Thu 26-May-22 15:03:09

Well that’s us told

We should stick to vanilla subjects, only post vanilla questions and answers, such a jolly jape…

My son had an Action man Person, who had a parachute attached to their back and when they were thrown down our stairwell for 3 flights of stairs in our then house, they floated to the bottom, the Action Person that is, on his own, my son didn't go with him. Confusing when inanimate pieces of plastic can't be defined by the sex they were assigned at production birth confused

Another chewer! My DSis ate her way through a box of minibrix predecessor of lego.
When we found chewed bits she blamed the dog!

Any Tressy owners remember this advert from the 60’s?

Or we could just ignore the fun sponges and carry on regardless!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 26-May-22 15:11:43

I loved my Tressy, I also had Sindy and her little sister Patch who was a tomboy judging by the clothes available for her.

Chewbacca Thu 26-May-22 15:12:38

That was a blast from the past grannynannywanny! I remember it well!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 26-May-22 15:12:46

Now Chewbacca what are you doing with my look-a-like, complete with my pearls ???

jaylucy Thu 26-May-22 15:18:55

As many of you know, my ex is trans (this happened many years after we split up!) and I really can't see what exactly they were modelling this on !
Please, for heavens sake I hope he doesn't see that and use it as inspiration !!!!
Surely this isn't Transgender, it's Transvestite ????

Terribull there was, last century, a truly strange member of the truly strange wealthy Morgan family of Newport, South Wales, who decided that she was a bird.
In her home, in London's Eaton Square , she had a nest, and a beak, made by a jeweller.
A caller might be greeted by a maid to be told that madam was unavailable, as she was sitting on her nest.
Clearly, a woman ahead of her time!
