There are individual position papers to come but I thought some might be interested in reading the this.

To be fair volver I love chips and I am a southern softie, haven’t tried a Fried Mars Bar though.

We like softies too. Deep Fried Mars Bar in a softie, with chips. A Deep Fried Mars Bar Softie Supper, in fact. ?

I personally would hate to see a hard border between England & Scotland which will certainly have to happen if an Independent Scotland joins the EU.

Maybe not GG13. England might be happy to be more flexible and allow ‘trusted trader status’ or the use of technology. Be interesting though to see what the EU would demand if Scotland rejoins.

Deep-fried Mars Bars are lovely. I shared one with a friend once. We had it in a little cafe near the King's Theatre in Glasgow (it was no longer that greasy cafe when I last looked), and it was served with vanilla ice-cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

I won't have a word said against them! At least, try it before you scoff ??

Genuine question volver - are you excited at the prospect, do you think it really will happen?

I'm always excited by the prospect of independence.

Urmstongran Tue 14-Jun-22 16:13:42

And do you think it will happen?

I wish Wales could be independent too but sadly not an option. There isn't a huge worldwide demand for leeks.

?
We have whisky too!!

The vote? 50:50.

I always find this a difficult subject, having a foot in both camps so to speak. I would hate for the UK to be broken up but while we have such an incompetent uncaring party in government in Westminster things won’t improve. Thanks for the link DaisyAnne, I may move back across the border!

while we have such an incompetent uncaring party in government in Westminster things won’t improve.

They only have another couple of years to mess things up.

What happens if we then have a competent, caring government in Westminster which is intent on improving everything? Will that persuade some Scots that together is better?

Urmstongran Tue 14-Jun-22 16:21:46

Regular referendums are unfair since one side has to win every time and the other side only has to inch it the once, It's perfectly fair to make it a once in a generation choice. There is no chance on Earth we would have been allowed a second EU referendum had Remain won.

If Indy2 goes ahead and it’s a dud, then it should be stated how many years exactly to the ‘next one’. Because there will always be another tilt at it.

When was the last time we had one of them?

I haven't commented because I haven't yet read it Grandmabatty. (The thread heading is the title of the paper) I hope people will read it before they comment. A culture of opinion based on ignorance doesn't seem to do the country any good.

I think it will be interesting to read in relation to the whole UK too.

Has anyone else read this & would like to comment on the document itself?

Callistemon I forgot about whisky.
I'm willing to give it a go ?

I don’t want Scotland to leave. I love the whole of the British Isles.
I’ll be there in August for the festival and then on to the Caledonian Canal.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 14-Jun-22 16:47:49

Up until recently I hated the thought of our countries being divided, but now “go for it” I say.

Who in their right mind what’s anything to do with this disgusting, lying, putrid government and the type that support them.

They'll be gone before there's another referendum

Kicked into the long grass ?

Just give them another vote.

If it succeeds, then Sturgeon will stop banging on.

If it fails, then Sturgeon will have to stop banging on.

Win, win.???

Imagine - a politician carrying out the manifesto on which they were elected. Or 'banging on' as some people put it

Well it certainly wasn’t the one headed by David Cameron!

If you get independence, can I come?

Serious question

volver Tue 14-Jun-22 19:06:05

It was Gordon Brown, who is of course Scottish.
