Urmstongran

Just adds to the cost Lucca it’s not as though they’re ringing round the job centres is it? Calling friends and family to let them know how they’re doing more like. Who pays for their top up ‘pay as you go” cards? Us. Probably.

How can they do any admin things without a mobile phone, ?you have not explained

When I first heard they were being sent to Rwanda I was amazed, the son of a good friend who lived there for many years had to live in a compound with armed guards and no he is not white. I know from various threads that Gransnetters live all over the place but for those of us in Kent this is a real everyday problem and we saw from the village with the unused army camp how people, who don't usually see the problem, actually feel when confronted with it. I wonder what the boat people think when they have been here a while, they are trapped on an island they can't walk into another country as they can on mainland Europe.

From the Times 18/4/22

So, these poor ‘swapped’ refugees are not going to cost Britain anything?
The Government are involved in human trafficking.

This obsession with “mobile phones”…how else could anybody manage to travel, apply for visas, find work, maintain contact with family. Seriously, how ?

Its not the truth Maudi. Its propaganda and lies that you believe.

Maudi Wed 15-Jun-22 09:06:12

It's the truth that's why they will never be power.

Maudi

'Come one, come all' that's Labour and the Lib Dems stance open borders let the British tax payer pay. That's why Labour/Lib Dems will never win a general election.

What utter tripe

Perhaps it’s time we aligned with Europe and issued I.D. cards then if that would make working in the ‘black economy’ more difficult. Seems daft not to. “What about our civil liberties though?” the detractors always shout. Well, at 5 million ££s a DAY to house, feed, supply mobile phones and medical aid to these migrants, we need to re-think something. Or shall we just give up trying to reverse the tide and say ‘come one, come all’ to register & work. But then - when would our little island be considered ‘full’? Never??

They didn't even manage the seven in the end, did they? What a waste of time and money!

I totally agree with you, paddyann.

The plane didn't fly. All refugees were taken off, thank goodness. Thanks to human rights lawyers fighting hard.

Its not France's responsibility to keep them imprisoned and stop them leaving .In whatever way they want .Just the same as its not the UK's responsibility to make rules that suit France.
Isn't/wasn't that what Brexit was about ? You wanted sovereignty ,to control your OWN borders ...so do it .Dont depend on others doing it for you .
Sadly the UK government ,although having the power to control borders all along sat back and expected it done for them .While we were in the EU that may have been acceptable but not now .
You changed the circumstances ,you need to deal with the issue. This has just shown how badly the home office is run,if they have to resort to spending £500K on a plane to take 7 ...that is SEVEN refugees ,thousands of miles then there is a massive problem with the people who run it .
The whole system is rotten from the top down.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 15-Jun-22 08:28:22

I agree.

The migrants are risking their lives anyway and have done in their journey , so the risk of deportation is minimal. There are hundreds more who wash up on beaches who don’t make themselves known to the authorities and live under the radar - easy to work here with no papers/ ID cards. That’s what many of them will do and one reason why the U.K. is attractive. I’m sure France are only too happy to wave them off.

Read the 1951 Refugee convention. And then you will have a greater understanding.

The news has just announced there were another 300 refugees crossed the channel today. They have risked being deported to Rwanda rather than stay in France. I wonder how France feels about this?
