I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

I always knew that big pharma weren’t in the business of keeping us healthy.
But now thanks to listening to this doctor on GB News I know how bad it really is.
This is an old article but things have got a lot worse since then.

I think that this is one of the biggest problems with GB News; they get people on to pontificate about something and because they are on telly there is a certain demographic who think they must be trustworthy.

For instance, Dr Malhotra:

Maholtra's views on diet and health have been criticized by the British Heart Foundation as "misleading and wrong", and his public questioning of the need ever to use statins has been condemned as a danger to public health. His "Pioppi diet" was named by the British Dietetic Association as one of the "top 5 worst celeb diets to avoid in 2018". During the COVID-19 pandemic Malhotra published a book called The 21-Day Immunity Plan making claims that following the diet could quickly help people reduce their risk from the virus; critics point out that such claims are not backed by medical research evidence.

In November 2021, Malhotra appeared on GB News to discuss an abstract for an academic poster published by Steven Gundry and which the American Heart Association had warned may contain "potential errors". Malhotra claimed that the abstract supported "a significantly increased risk from 11% at five years, the risk of heart attack, to 25%." after taking mRNA vaccines against COVID-19. Full Fact warned that "Serious concerns have been raised as to the quality of the research".

Yes, it is. .When he had a morning GB News slot, (now changed). he reported from there every morning.

He used to look quite disappointed if they were no dinghies in view lol ?

Sorry if there is an underlying point Dinahmo, but I didnt get it.
Do you think the owners have nefarious purposes?

Galaxy??

Volver not worse or better. More what's sauce for the goose etc etc.

3 of the major shareholders are foreign and very much to the right.

I don't know how we would know who was landing on our beaches here in Kent if Nigel didn't keep us up to date. I watch occasionally.

Lol, yes, he's often on TV, standing on the White Cliffs In Dover.

Binoculars in hand - looking to the horizon, to hopefully count some dinghies.

Union Jack socks on for the cameras...ranting away to his supporters.

Well an offhand comment about not praising Farage is not comparable with actually being Farage and wrecking a country for one's one ends. I find that Farage and co are awfully quick to pretend that they are being silenced when what is actually happening is that someone is disagreeing with them.

I suggest that some of you check up on the ownership of GB News. Here's a summary:

GB News is owned by All Perspectives Ltd, which is a holding company, headquartered in London. As of February 2022 All Perspectives Ltd was controlled by four significant shareholders, three of whom are nationals of Malta, Britain, and New Zealand respectively, all with the same correspondence address in Dubai.

I didnt agree with taking the Russian channel down either. Me and dh had a row about it. We probably need to get out more.

volver Thu 30-Jun-22 11:51:37

Oh I'm suitable chastened.

I am a worse human being than Nigel Farage. hmm

I didn't agree with taking the Russian channel down either. Hoist on their own petard and all that jazz. Am I redeemed?

Namsnanny Thu 30-Jun-22 11:48:25

No. Too much. Really.

No praise for Nigel, please. Nigel is the worst thing to happen to this country and nothing will ever change my mind about that. He's a dangerous parasite.

One thing he hasnt done is ask however nicely, for people not to express an opinion.
Granted he is a touch oleagineus (tongue in cheek joke, in case you were wondering).
I watch all kinds of news channels apart from the main channels at 6.
I didnt agree with taking the Russian channel down.
I have a brain, I can listen but I dont have to agree.

Deedaa Thu 30-Jun-22 11:30:19

I tried watching it a couple of times but it seemed very amateur and the sound quality was dreadful.

MerylStreep Thu 30-Jun-22 11:27:43

DiamondLily
I read in Andrew Neil’s own words why he left GB News.
He knew that the station wasn’t ready to transmit ( how right he was)
He’s been in broadcasting long enough to know what damage that can do.
I watch his piece now on Channel 4.

Galaxy Thu 30-Jun-22 11:26:45

I dont know. I might be wrong!

volver Thu 30-Jun-22 11:25:23

Oh no, was it? The coffee hasn't helped, has it? ?

Sorry if it was luluaugust!

Galaxy Thu 30-Jun-22 11:19:24

Oh I thought that was sarcasm.

DiamondLily Thu 30-Jun-22 10:19:40

I don't watch Sky News, so I can't really say much about Kay Burley.

To get honest, I never thought Holmes and Diamond were much good when they were on the ITV programme.

I used to like Andrew Neil, as a heavyweight political interviewer on BBC, but he left GB News very quickly.

As for Farage....?

Mamardoit Thu 30-Jun-22 10:01:32

Do you feel you are in a time warp if you are watching Kay Burley on Sky? She's over 60 so not that much younger than Eammon or Anne. I don't think age matters. I think their age ie. personal memory and experience makes them better interviewers.

henetha Thu 30-Jun-22 09:59:47

I like Dan Wootton in the evenings. It's all quite light hearted.
And i like the way they have opposing opinions.

DiamondLily Thu 30-Jun-22 09:42:54

I do like the fact that there are often opposing views, but I've never seen them yelling over one another, which is good.

But, when people like Eammon Holmes, Anne Diamond and Nigel Farage are on, I feel like I'm in a time warp.

DillytheGardener Thu 30-Jun-22 08:37:50

DH who has become a slave to the idiot papers like The Daily Mail and the Sun, watches it occasionally. As far as I can see it looks like a another poster said, a bunch of has beens and imo lunatics.
Rather jealous of my son living in NZ, apparently devoid of fringe media and tabloids.

Mamardoit Thu 30-Jun-22 08:23:46

They do have members of the shadow cabinet on. John Healey was on today. So they do have those who would like to become well known. The interviewers let them speak too.
