I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

I know I shouldn’t dismiss something without watching it but I can’t honestly watch Farage without feeling physically sick in the way that I feel when I see Trump.

Farage actually does a fantastic job when he interviews people and he interviews all types. He puts them at ease and gently draws information from them. You don`t have to look at him, GBnews is on radio as well as tv

I saw something on Facebook about it. It said he beat Eamon Holmes’s and Piers Morgan so the competition was pretty fierce….

And Susanna Reid, and she didn’t like it one bit…..😁

I had no idea
'British broadcasterGB Newshas amassed losses of more than £30 million in its first full year on the air, after investing in numerous presenters ..

It racked up £30.7 million in a pre-tax loss over the period, on revenues of £3.6 million.'

That is completely out of date.

I just wish it would change its name as it isn’t a news channel merely entertainment which is chatting about the news from a particular perspective.

So it is misleading from the start.

I saw SR commenting on this and she said it was a very long “short list” and she was the only female on it. Her face said it all, she expected to win as she was the only female!

But just like that other historic vote, the public voted for what /who they wanted!!

There’s a regular news report every half hour by a ‘proper’ news reader. Also the format is no different from Sky. It’s a rolling news channel.

But OFCOM does not agree that it is a news channel. It is an entertainment channel with “news” thrown in at intervals. Just like any other channel, but it is certainly not a news channel.

The issue I have is, that as a result if OFCOM’s ruling it is able to say what it wants lies or truth without hinderance, which is why it can’t possibly be relied on for news in the ordinary sense. So calling it GB News is misleading.

Just letting you know Chardy, and Primrose53
On March 9th 2023 the report said,
GB News has reported a £31m loss in its first year on air, on revenue of £3.6m, but its directors remain “satisfied” with where it stands.

In its Companies House accounts for the year to 31 May 2022 GB News Limited reported advertising revenues of £2.97m, digital revenues of £564,000 and sponsorship revenue of £105,664.

However, cost of sales stood at £25.4m and operating expenses at £8.9m, producing a loss both before and after tax of £30.7m.

The year before, when GB News reported no revenue, its losses were £3m.

So that’s now 3 month out of date. Any more up to date figures anywhere?
NB I love the bit where the directors remain satisfied. I wish the bank was so blasé about overdrafts.

Yes, they all seem to have a sense of humour bypass, whereas most of us on here to support the network have a happy vibe..😁😎
Someone said the sight of Farage makes them feel physically sick. Well, when I see animal or child abuse that’s what makes me feel sick, not just the face of one person…

That’s your opinion, annd obviously you’re entitled to it. I see it as it is very informative breath of fresh air NEWS channel..
The diverse presenters are brilliant.
I find it odd that so many on this this thread get so annoyed /angry about it. Why does it bother you so much?if you don’t like it don’t watch it. 🤓

Jacob Rees Mogg and Pritti Patel have been found in contempt of parliament because of their attacks on the Priviliges Committee on this so called news channel.

Pales into insignificance when compared to the 14 billion debt that Thames water has and a much more important issue than a news channel, I would say.

I agree, re the importance of Thames Water debts. Nevertheless, a debt is a debt and if the subject is GB news, then those are the losses that are relative to the post.

Yes Molly, I am aware of that

Nannashirlz Thu 29-Jun-23 11:58:58

yes I found the channel about a year ago and I watch it everyday day and have had many of my comments read out on tv. Shame the other channels are so petty and bitter did you see them at the award ceremony. For all of you slating the program you on your own because GBnews won awards voted by us the ppl and beat bbc sky and itv. I also watch talktv too now. Voice of the ppl and ppl have spoken.

Nannashirlz Thu 29-Jun-23 12:02:59

Farage said in his award speech that he owed his award to Meghan Markle, without whom he wouldn’t have got the GBNews gig.
I don’t understand that.

Surely he got it due to his Brexit prominence.

I know that he got the sack for his comments about immigrants, as did Katie Hopkins (where is she now? Is she unemployable?)

It wasn’t farage that said it about Megan it was piers Morgan who said it when he won his award for talktv

You are comparing apples and pears.

Because GB News is not a news channel. It has no requirement to adhere to Ofcom regulations, relating to the broadcasting of news. People will not have their complaints dealt with under these regulations.

That is why you need to take its so called news with a huge pinch of salt.

It is the same as the DM which is deemed not to be a newspaper in the traditional sense because it can’t be trusted with the truth.

That is why I stated that it is an entertainment channel and will be popular with DM readers.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 29-Jun-23 12:28:27

I see that the banks are suspecting Farage of either fraud or money laundering or possibly both.

Subsequently they have frozen his bank accounts.

Farage is squealing like a stuck pig.

FannyCornforth Thu 29-Jun-23 12:28:29

Nannashirlz you are absolutely right!

I was incredibly muddled up yes morning for some reason.

As soon as I realised my error I was going to post acknowledging it, but I thought that I’d probably posted enough and didn’t want to b*** everything up again! smile
