I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

Eamon Holmes won last year.
As I said, I’m a bit of a geek about speech radio and I’d never heard of them previously.
It’s not exactly a Sony Gold

MaizieD Farage was prevented from speaking at the podium . I saw the video clip. Strange that anyone would support that in the broadcasting industry!

Sony Gold???

FannyCornforth Wed 28-Jun-23 12:01:07

The Sony Awards.
A Sony Gold is the highest accolade that you can get in radio

FannyCornforth Wed 28-Jun-23 12:04:08

That was until 2019, it’s the ARIAs now.

Sorry, it’s the Radio Academy Awards now
Sony stopped sponsoring it

Sorry, I’ve confused myself and others because GBNews is also on DAB, which is where I occasionally get it.
And the TRIC awards are both TV and Radio. Hence me getting muddled up

FannyCornforth Wed 28-Jun-23 12:36:01

Farage said in his award speech that he owed his award to Meghan Markle, without whom he wouldn’t have got the GBNews gig.
I don’t understand that.

Surely he got it due to his Brexit prominence.

I know that he got the sack for his comments about immigrants, as did Katie Hopkins (where is she now? Is she unemployable?)

I hope that non of the naysayers ever need any of the £55,000 which Patrick Christy has personally raised for the charity MIND.

I think it’s over £60,000 now…. very commendable.
Not seen it yet, but I believe he is or was on stage with the dream boys…😁
Let’s see what sort of negative spin the naysayers can put on that! 🤓

I have given it a go.

It is the equivalent of the DM in broadcast form, so will be popular with people who like that sort of entertainment.

Not for me though. I find it beyond irritating and why do they all get so excited and shouty? Just like red top headlines I guess.

‘People who like that sort of entertainment’ why goodness gracious me! Possibly the sort of people who like Corrie and Eastenders, pass the smelling salts Esmeralda!😂

I commented earlier in the thread about snobbery around GB News and here’s more proof if needed.

Well blow me down, I never knew that not liking soaps meant you were a snob.

You haven't understood Casdon and not for the first time I must say.
Snobbery about popular things, GBNews, the Daily Mail and so on abounds on some forums.

I’m terminally dim Oreo, hadn’t you realised?

Surely not snobbery about the DM? There always seems to be so much knowledge on GN about what’s in the DM, so who’s left to be snobbish about it?

varian Wed 28-Jun-23 18:22:13

The Daily Mail, like The Guardian, is available free online, to their credit.

Also anyone who shops in a UK supermarket will see the front page of the Daily Mail prominently displayed at the checkout..

It is not snobbery to criticise the most popular UK daily paper which has huge influence in our elections because there are many people who actually believe everything they read in the Daily Mail.

Wikipaedia no longer regard The Daily Mail as a newspaper because of firm evidence that much of the content is simply untrue.

Surely you know that Wikipedia cannot be quoted as evidence because it has no control over its content?

varian Wed 28-Jun-23 19:21:27

Yes, but who has control over the veracity of The Daily Mail?

Wikipedia criticising the DM!
Pot, kettle, black.

😂😂😂

If Wikipedia no longer consider the Daily Mail a newspaper, why do they keep referring to it as such.

I will not be watching GB News anytime soon. I also do not watch soaps and consider the Daily Mail a mere comic. I am not a snob. I prefer my news to come from sources which are hopefully untainted by severe right-wingery. I try to read the DM on line to get a view of what a large number of people believe. I also read and contrast CNN and Fox News. Some would say that way madness lies but I think it’s important to keep an eye on the trump shenanigans.
