Who’s next?

MaggsMcG Wed 06-Jul-22 12:14:28

Casdon the next actual date for the election is May 2024 NOT 2023.

MaggsMcG Wed 06-Jul-22 12:12:51

One good thing might come from his desire to keep his job. They will cut taxes and with any luck raise the tax threshold which could help some of us. Or cut the petrol tax. In order to try to convince the country to vote them in again. Not sure it will work its too late. However I'd rather vote Lib Dem than risk the Labour Party getting in. That would cause even more problems as they don't have enough candidates or experience to run the Government by themselves. A hung parliament is never a good thing. Alliances are made with all the most unsuitable minority parties.

Yes I remember didn’t a Roman bloke having loads of ppl stabbing him in back etc too. lol. And media scum are loving this oh well we can always have mr seat on the fence funny media don’t mention him and Durham and his side kick ms nine and a half weeks

I can’t believe that you haven’t grasped yet that he will be replaced by another Tory minister not by a Labour politician, or had you forgotten that the Tories are in power until 2023?

Flakesdayout Wed 06-Jul-22 12:10:42

I hope Jacob Rees-Mogg goes - I cannot stand him (he could be perfectly nice but arghhh)
Boris will no doubt do something about cutting taxes etc etc to get back in favour.
I do hope he goes.

17 at last count.

Sawsage2 Wed 06-Jul-22 12:06:48

It'll always be the wives and partners telling them what to do.

Just seen that my local MP has resigned from the cabinet

TerriS Wed 06-Jul-22 11:50:30

Boris Johnson displays a high level of cognitive dissonance.
It says a lot about those still supporting him.
My MP remains under close scrutiny- if he doesn’t show his hand soon, he and others, will find the next GE very unsettling.

TerriS Wed 06-Jul-22 11:46:15

Completely agree ?

How did they get rid of Margaret Thatcher?
I mean I know she was really really hated ( more than Boris even ) but they pushed her out. Why isn’t that happening with Boris?

Margaret Thatcher observed the constitutional conventions and the ministerial code, and, for all that she had a vile political philosophy, she was genuinely 'serving the country (well, part of it).

Have you not yet understood that Johnson has no interest whatsoever in 'serving the country' and no intention of observing any conventions or 'codes'? He just won't go. How are we supposed to deal with that? Even if he is removed as tory party leader he could still sit tight in No 10 as 'caretaker PM' and then devise some way of evading expulsion.

I think the only way he'll be removed is physically, in handcuffs.

Well said, MaizieD

I think Margaret Thatcher thought she was invincible but found out she was not.

Agree with her policies or not, she had standards of moral decency that Boris has probably never encountered in his whole life.
He has no standards by which he is able to judge what is right or wrong.

If the likes of Jacob Rees might are behind Boris God help us

MayBee70 Wed 06-Jul-22 11:37:10

In my last but one letter to my MP I told her she would be on the wrong side of history but she still said she totally believed in Johnson’s integrity.

Delene100 Wed 06-Jul-22 11:36:01

I suspect he and Carrie will loathe to leave the apartment they spent so much dirty money on.

Rosina Wed 06-Jul-22 11:33:24

Resignation letters of both Javid and Sunak printed in full in The Times this morning. Sobering stuff. Difficult to think who might replace BJ.

Delene100 Wed 06-Jul-22 11:33:02

I suspect Boris will be wheeled out clinging to his desk and chair. I can almost hear his finger nails scraping against his desk. In my opinion none of his Cabinet members must be in the running to replace Boris as leader of the Conservative party because they have all been complicit in excusing Boris' despicable, lying behaviour.

More like anarchy in the uk. Twitter rumours that Durham police have issued FPN’s to Starmer and Rsynor.. but are holding back because of instability.
I’ve never been and never would be a Tory but don’t forget Boris is the more left wing one. It’s rishi who hates raising taxes. It’s Boris who wants to borrow more and give it out. Be careful what you wish for.

HurdyGurdy Wed 06-Jul-22 11:17:41

Twitter has had a field day.

One post saying "Cliff Richard current in talks to re-release "Carrie Doesn't Live Here Anymore"

This was one of my favourites, captioned "Boris - I'm coming to get you" ?

Kandinsky Wed 06-Jul-22 11:14:37

I’m 58. So pretty old yes.

The phrase ‘Tory sleeze’ has been around for as long as I can remember.
But I agree, I don’t know enough about every single PM to say if Boris is the worst we’ve ever had.
Tony Blair wasn’t always exactly straight with us was he. Something about the Iraq war? ……

Lizzie44 Wed 06-Jul-22 11:13:01

It's all starting to unravel now... a joy to behold.

MissAdventure Wed 06-Jul-22 11:07:45

He is fighting to keep himself in the nice little safe space he has carved out for himself and his cronies.
It's too much of a gravy train to jump off.

FarNorth Wed 06-Jul-22 11:05:07

"Johnson fighting for political life" - he doesn't have such a thing. He's a ginormous cuckoo in the nest with no interest in anything but himself.

Not happy Larry

I love Larry. He always has a sensible comment to make. Apparently he doesn't get on with Palmerston, the Foreign Office cat. I'm not sure which has the title Chief Mouser these days.

growstuff I think Kadinsky lives in a different universe if she has seen anything comparable with the moral turpitude, dishonesty and self interest of this current government - and that is before we address the failings of its leader.

I can remember every government back to 1947, I had an interest in politics from a precociously young age, and I cannot think of a single government since then that goes anywhere near the current government for venality. That or she is hundreds of years old and can remember back to the late 18th century.

Kandinsky

Well at least Kandinsky appeared !

grin like I’m the only person in the country who voted for brexit.

The whole ‘Tory sleeze’ thing doesn’t bother me as I’m old enough to have seen it all before.

You must be ancient because I'm sure I'm not old enough to have seen anything like this on this scale before.

There never has been in the UK. Her name may indicate that Kandinsky has lived in another country though, so it’s quite possible she has - I can only think of Italy for sleaze and lying on this scale.
