The Tory party needs a leader who demonstartes the prevailing standards of moral probity or intelligence

How about Chris Pincher or David Warburton if moral probity is key or Nadine Dorries or Jacon Rees Mogg to demonstrate the typical level of intelligence?

He hasn't gone yet and will be in post taking decisions until October.
His resignation speech was appalling. There was no apology, contrition or regret. Played the victim to the end. Just compare his demeanor with that of Mrs May when she resigned.
He didn't mean a word of it.

Is this a joke?

Nannashirlz Thu 07-Jul-22 13:04:45

How about what’s the point if ppl vote someone should it not be up to the people ppl to vote them out not a Mp. If you don’t like your job find a new job not do a witch-hunt

LovelyLady Thu 07-Jul-22 13:03:09

Just disband the party and start a new one.
Perhaps a Scottish friendly party. We haven’t ever had that in Westminster.

Jane12356 Thu 07-Jul-22 13:00:53

Well said,I agree. He is a slime ball.

kevincharley Thu 07-Jul-22 12:49:26

I don't care! Johnson is an ex Prime Minister. I'm celebrating that and don't want to think about what horrors lie ahead.
(Yes, technically he's still in office but he's nearing the end of the helter skelter.)

Kandinsky

Well. In some ways I’ll miss him.
He was a bit different, a bit fun, something we’ve never had before.
He’s seen us through a global pandemic and brexit - 2 of the biggest political & social upheavals in decades. Not many would have coped with all that.

And neither did he. What a shambles.

Tom Tugenhat is I believe is to throw his hat in the mix for leader ( titter) couldn't resist it. BUT he does have French citizenship !! So + or - on that.

Saggi Thu 07-Jul-22 12:41:55

Who cares ! It’ll be another ‘Eton mess’ I suppose. No nowt about nowt only fleecing the poor.!

Kandinsky A bit of fun!!

Being PM doesn't mean taking part in a comedy show; it means taking part in real life. Though there seem to be many who live in a different reality these days. I wish I could understand their way of thinking but it boggles the mind.

spabbygirl Thu 07-Jul-22 12:25:53

all the tories want to run down the NHS and replace it with an American style health system, is that what you really want? I want a country where not only myself and my family but others have free health care

Anneeba Thu 07-Jul-22 12:24:28

Zahawi or Hunt. Can't abide either of them, but then can't name a Tory I do like or respect at the moment.

Sunak has the credentials but due to his wife's wealth won't understand the pain the general public and pensioners in particular are going through. Rees Mogg is my bet!!

Rees Mogg also has immense wealth and regularly shows himself to be totally out of touch with the realities of ordinary people's lives!

And wasn't it him who said, when resisting voting from home and mask wearing that 'you couldn't catch covid from people you know well'! A complete moron IMHO!

SillyNanny321 Thu 07-Jul-22 12:13:29

If its Sunak I’m digging a hole in my garden to hide myself in!

Lostmyglassesxx Thu 07-Jul-22 12:11:24

He is sanctimonious and Condescending and rumour has it not whiter than white himself

I meant Rees Mogg !

When I was young (oh yes), I suppose I naively thought politicians were honourable decent hard working people ,devoted to the common good.
Then I learned of the machinations, plotting, scandal and
privileges of the MPs etc in the 1960’s.
We only had the newspapers and a bit of TV, but now there is a
plethora of media activities, we are sucked into it ,whether we like it or not.
Sadly all the MPs are just a bunch of people ,a crossection of our lives, some good some not so good.Titles don’t make the man/woman. You can’t polish a turd.

Musicgirl Thu 07-Jul-22 11:57:06

The first thing I said when Boris Johnson was voted in was that we now had our very own Donald Trump but I tried to support him as PM, especially during the pandemic. I have no idea who will be chosen as leader but sincerely hope it is not Jacob Rees-Mogg.

CrafterInCumbria Thu 07-Jul-22 11:56:31

Totally agree with you. But then it would be hard to find one of these MP’s who haven’t lied.

puffernutter Thu 07-Jul-22 11:52:52

From Twitter - choosing a new Tory leader is like deciding which portaloo to use at Glastonbury

Tory leader well God help us if it’s GOVE! And it’s what Sunak has been gunning for all along which makes him as bad as Gove.
What’s going on with the males of these Parties they behave so petulantly!….

As I understand, Lord Frost is another very unpleasant man. Likes power without responsibility.
