Did anyone else see the banana flipping the bird at Johnson protesters?
Her public middle finger salute to the electorate shows how far down the barrel Johnson has descended to scrape that one into his cabinet.
Does the Tory party seriously expect us to be governed by this parcel of incompetents Boris has thrust upon us?

Governed is probably not quite the right word, but, yes, it would appear so.

Urmstongran Sat 09-Jul-22 06:49:20

We have no choice but to.

Esspee Sat 09-Jul-22 06:54:38

The Conservative party can put an end to this farce and kick Boris out to let a new PM select a cabinet.

... "the banana" LOL!

She certainly looked a bit ripe.

Johnson has to scrape the barrel - all the 'good stuff' has, erm, gone (so to speak).

One man and his unconstrained ego has plunged the country into an unholy mess. And I don't believe he's done yet. Like Trump (though Johnson is more intelligent and canny), he cannot accept that his time is up, and - like Trump - he still has a huge support base among the electorate.

I only hope the circuit of 'after dinner' speeches, etc, (where he will make a tidy packet) appeals to him more than being the second Churchill.

Plus Peter Bone as Deputy Leader of the House FGS. They really are scraping the barrel or more likely Boris Johnson is 'aving a larf.

Dickens Sat 09-Jul-22 07:33:55

... perhaps the current Mrs Johnson will encourage her husband to take up the lucrative 'circuit' and ditch his - almost 'presidential' ambitions?

She has a young family to feed and educate - and rolls more wallpaper to purchase.

Am I the only one who actually liked the way they furnished Number 10 (disregarding of course the expense and the hoo-ha surrounding the refurbishment)? I thought it was colourful, bright and cheerful.

... but then I don't think I have a reputation for good taste, and I've probably lost any credibility I might have had - I'm just being strictly honest and impartial. And ignoring the outrageous expense.

... Hobson's choice?

I heard on the news last night that the post has been unfilled since 2019, seems strange to appoint someone to such a post just before summer recess.

I wonder if all these newbies will get a taxpayers end of term pay-off? Blojo doing favours for friends no doubt.

Why ex ministers get resettlement payments is hard to understand.

TopsyIrene06 Sat 09-Jul-22 07:47:59

She should go now. Disgusting for an Education Minister AND on video for all to see. How on earth can we tell our young ones that it is not acceptable.

As for Peter Bone, thought this was a hoax but clearly not. I think the media always bring him out when nobody else is available. If it wasn't so serious for us all, it would be hilarious.

As this appears to be a lighter thread in N & P ( though I am aware of the gravity the whole mess), I would like to agree with Dickens that if you want to make a décor statement then that wallpaper did the job. It was bright and no doubt hit you on entering the rooms, but that shows you can be bold and experimental with fabrics and wallcoverings. If that is what Carrie likes, then good on her, and she isn't the only one. The prices are what they are for that sort of quality.
And I do have a reputation for good taste!!

I've no idea who Andrea Jenkins is but I think here name has a y, Jenkyns. I wouldn't approve of her gesture at all.

Esspee Sat 09-Jul-22 07:52:54

Dickens. You like this? Seriously?

Esspee Sat 09-Jul-22 07:56:00

You are right about the y Joseanne my spell checker must have altered it.
Apologies to any Andrea Jenkins who may have thought I called her a banana.

Riverwalk Sat 09-Jul-22 07:58:40

I saw footage of Jenkyns leaving Downing Street where she yells something to the crowd, in a goading manner!

Bone?! I missed that. That’s beyond scraping the barrel and more.

Joseanne Sat 09-Jul-22 08:00:48

Apologies, I've just seen a designated wallpaper thread!

Dickens
No, I also like the decor in number 10

MaizieD Sat 09-Jul-22 08:06:51

I don't recall having seen any pictures of the refurbished Downing St flat. Have any been published?

I just don't like what I've seen of Lytle's work.

Though that wallpaper isn't too awful, Esspee

Esspee Sat 09-Jul-22 08:11:41

Hardly classy Maizie and the next resident is unlikely to want to live with it.
When moving into tied accommodation usually you are told that on leaving you should return the property with neutral decor.
Maybe she’ll steam it off?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Jul-22 08:12:13

Just seen the video of Jenkins entering Downing Street and gesturing to the public.

THAT IS DISGRACEFUL

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Jul-22 08:13:51

?

Sara1954 Sat 09-Jul-22 08:17:36

That really is DISGRACEFUL
I didn’t know about that, too busy admiring the wallpaper.

If you follow my lead children you too might one day be put in charge of the education of all the boys and girls in this country.
