wallpaper for a hallway?

MaizieD

Thanks, Joseanne.

So we're not actually talking about the whole decor, just some wallpaper?

I see chain lock fencing with bindweed...

I didn't think that any interior pictures existed (for security reasons as much as anything else) but everyone seemed to know so much about the decor, whereas I was judging from a Tltler piece on Lytle...

French Chateau, English Country House... not a huge difference (though, of course the French will think theirs is far more tasteful...)

There’s a picture allegedly of Carrie in one of the rooms, and the actual estimate provided on the link I attached, with the detail of some of the items purchased MaizieD

they should have gone to specsavers

NotSpaghetti Sat 09-Jul-22 10:51:08

It looks very 1980s to me to be honest.

Juliet27 Sat 09-Jul-22 10:50:39

It really does surprise me that there would be so many names.

JaneJudge Sat 09-Jul-22 10:46:18

Maybe Boris has to write the names of everyone he's slept with in each of the squares in sharpie

Joseanne Sat 09-Jul-22 10:39:24

Sort of comme ça.

Joseanne Sat 09-Jul-22 10:37:07

The series featuring Dick and Angel at Le Château de la Motte-Husson taught me all about French wallcoverings! Not so much to do with Angel's designs, though very good, but the 19th century papers underneath.

It makes my eyes go squiffy; like when you look at an optical illusion.

MaizieD Sat 09-Jul-22 10:31:44

oops ...a Tatler piece...

MaizieD Sat 09-Jul-22 10:30:01

X post Casdon.

Joseanne Sat 09-Jul-22 10:16:01

Excuse me shouting, but DOES ANYONE HAVE A LINK TO A PICTURE OR PICTURES OF THE DOWNING STREET FLAT WHICH THEY ARE DISCUSSING SO KNOWLEDGEABLY?

Ask someone who knows about wallpaper Maizie! I'm your person!

As I said, the wallpaper has French influences, probably 19th century. Where some see chicken wire others see delicate filigree like a trellis on a provenancal wall. Squares and checks are very popular in French wall coverings. Think Château.

Anyway, the wallcovering is listed on the supplier's invoice to number 10. But I haven't seen any photos of it in situ and I doubt we will either.

I don’t like it.

Want that one.
What a kerfuffle. grin

RichmondPark Sat 09-Jul-22 09:57:03

MaizieD I can't find any photos of their actual flat, but these I think are photos of the designer's work. Apologies for linking to the cat litter tray liner the DM (but I could sense your desperation and any port in a storm.)

I like it, lovely colours.

It would look very appropriate beneath the dado rail in a Victorian hallway. Crikey, I'm old fashioned.

Exactly!

Victorian Country House interpreted for the middle classes. grin

Juliet27 Sat 09-Jul-22 09:46:37

Agreed. A better look I mean, Rather than you being old fashioned !

Visgir1 Sat 09-Jul-22 09:23:57

Is okay I don't dislike it. Lot depends on what room it's in.?

I will be quite honest, I have bought very expensive paper, for a statement wall. I'm thrilled with it, it's liked by friends who like what I have done.

We all have personal taste, I certainly wouldn't tell people though how much it cost.

I’d feel I was in a cage surrounded by chickenwire

It’s very geometric and oppressive looking.
You don’t see much squared wallpaper for a reason.
It’s going to make the room look much smaller than it is.

MaizieD Sat 09-Jul-22 08:54:27

I'm sorry, but I'm just not 'getting' this thread at all.

Was that a sample of the actual Downing St wallpaper, Esspee?

Where can I see a picture of the actual flat decor that the in crowd seem to be so knowledgeable about?

BTW Kalu, Carrie wasn't 'flaunting her wealth', it was a tory donor's wealth that financed it.

RichmondPark Sat 09-Jul-22 08:50:57

I quite like it. To me it has Laura Ashley vibes.

Perhaps I'm an arriviste!

Joseanne Sat 09-Jul-22 08:49:19

Sorry I didn't mean "you" personally ,*Kalu*.
