I had no idea about most of this.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 12:13:31

I wonder if google results will vary the narrative?
I'd lost interest in it all, but I saw the book in a charity shop so decided to give it a read.

It sparked up my interest a bit, again.

I am becoming intrigued too, so consulting mr google. Cousin of dr Google who I try to avoid if I can. He always paints such a negative picture.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 12:09:19

Because we want to.

Grantanow Wed 31-Aug-22 12:07:58

Why are we wasting space on this?

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 12:07:21

I think the version I have is that the driver had a heavy cold and had taken a couple of doses of cold remedy, and had a couple of drinks.
I think he was a heavy drinker, anyway.

Anniebach Wed 31-Aug-22 12:05:15

Again , Trevor Rees Jones was wearing a seatbelt

Smileless2012 Wed 31-Aug-22 12:03:34

Me too. The tunnel was hosed down rather quickly after the accident and Mercedes weren't allowed to inspect the car to ensure there wasn't a mechanical fault.

There was supposedly shorter route to the hospital than the one the ambulance took. There have always been questions regarding the validity of the driver's blood test results.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 12:03:20

I'm pretty sure the bodyguard (Trevor) did put his on, perhaps because they were speeding?

silverlining48 Wed 31-Aug-22 12:00:02

I read somewhere that security guards are not allowed to wear seat belts when 'on duty'.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 11:56:19

No, that's the only thing we can be sure of.
I'm quite intrigued by it all though.

Smileless2012 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:54:34

We'll never know for sure will we MissA.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Aug-22 11:52:23

Already within two pages, we have different versions of events.
How can that still be so?

Jaberwok Wed 31-Aug-22 11:52:11

I'm sorry, but Diana certainly knew about Camilla when she married, she nearly called it off, but as her sister pointed out, their faces were on the tea towels.Henri Paul was found to be unfit to drive. As for the rest, who knows what her plans were.

Jaberwok Wed 31-Aug-22 11:48:27

How on earth could anyone have actually planned this fatal accident? No one in advance could possibly have known what route the driver would take, that Diana would fail to wear a seat belt, that the driver, who was apparently not on duty that night as they hadn't planned to go anywhere, was drunk. Dodi apparently insisted that he drove when the plan, for some weird reason, changed, driver should have refused but no one said NO to Dodi! Her security officer was the only one wearing a seat belt and that's how he survived. Why the others weren't is a complete mystery. Had Diana done so, she would in all probability survived. I think murder would have to have had a more cast iron plan than an off the cuff midnight car ride!

Annaram1 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:41:32

Princess Diana was not pregnant.
She was not engaged to Dodi.
She had had numerous boyfriends and he was just the next in line. She would never have married him.
Henri Paul was not drunk.
At the beginning of her marriage she was in love with Charles. She did not know about Camilla then.
Such a sad story as far as love was concerned.
However she did a lot of good in her life and people remember that.

Its no surprise she had problems as a child, given the family situation.

I remember that photo' of her as a fresh-faced 16 (I think) year old. She looked so innocent and naïve. It's sort of rather haunting now to look at it.

She and Charles were manipulated into a marriage that was doomed from the start. Mind you, the benefit of hindsight...

She should've carried on being a 'Sloanie' and married someone similar nearer her own age, she might have had some kind of normality in her life to compensate for her upbringing. And still be alive.

silverlining48 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:24:32

Really dont know if I misheard , will keep a look out.
Cant believe 25 years have gone by so quickly.

I'd be interested in watching that.

silverlining48 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:15:58

I think I heard last night that the security guard is giving his first interview on tv. Not sure when . Always wondered why he had never ( been allowed?) spoken publicly.

Anniebach Wed 31-Aug-22 11:12:17

They didn’t forget to destroy that letter, Paul Burrell had the letter and released it.

Trevor Rees Jones was not wearing a seatbelt

Why would she be killed because she was having a fling with a
Muslim, she was with Dr.Hasnet Khan for two years, went to
Pakistan to meet his mother.

She pushed her step mother down a staircase. Complained about Tiggy before Bashir , her sons loved Tiggy, she sacked
William’s nanny because William was fond of her.

She had problems from a child.

Elizabeth27 Wed 31-Aug-22 11:07:52

A drunk driver and no seatbelt whilst driving at 120mph.

Galaxy Wed 31-Aug-22 11:07:43

I think I agree with one of the commentators on the ch 4 programme, it was really difficult for people to accept that Princess Diana died in such a mundane way as a car crash. But that's what happened. It's a bit like if I go outside and droplets are falling from the sky the most likely explanation is it's raining.

mokryna Wed 31-Aug-22 11:07:24

Mr Fayed as early as 1986 was trying to get close to the RF by buying some of Simpson’s personal items when it went on sale.

hollysteers Wed 31-Aug-22 11:04:55

I mean the driver’s face.
