On the other hand, why were 6 weeks needed for Truss and Sunak to do their stuff? Such a tiny number of people will be voting for them - did they really need six weeks? All while this country is in uproar and desperately in need of some sort of government. Johnson is still PM and there is also a deputy. Utter madness. One week, maybe two, to ensure the voting papers were sent out and returned. When I was a member of the Labour Party we voted for the new leader on line. I’m afraid this dreadful government just aren’t good at making the right choice.

Oh dear, I keep forgetting! ?

I suppose he has just stuck his head above the parapet but he has been invisible during the last few weeks

mokryna Fri 02-Sept-22 13:54:36

Is it true that he is only hanging on as PM because he didn’t want to go down in history as the shortest serving PM after a GE?

And it is said that Truss will carry on this legacy. Is she sufficiently good at lying and does she have integrity? Time will tell.

It's all designed to make us heave a sigh of relief when he says they intend to build more nuclear power stations.

I can see through his ruse and I don't like it.

Exactly.

Exactly, JaneJudge. Why has nothing been done.?Don't we have a deputy as well ?All these excuses for lack of plans to deal with the present crises.

Cant stand the man - please just go away and stay away. The very worst PM weve ever had

RichmondPark1 Thu 01-Sept-22 15:27:34

He wants to build new nuclear power stations to provide heat which can leak out of the homes the Tories have failed to insulate.

Oh I wish he’d just disappear and take all the others with him

Two years to recoup your investment. He's not going to start a rush on kettle futures with that advice.

Anyway, isn't it cheaper to boil water in a pan on the gas hob?

The man's an ass hat.

To misquote that iconic economist Wilkins Macawber,
Expenditure £10, savings £20 per annum. Result happiness.
Expenditure £20, savings £10 per annum. Result misery.

????

Parsley3 Thu 01-Sept-22 14:52:18

I think it is called normalising the absurd.
Hell mend us if we let it happen.

Zonne Thu 01-Sept-22 14:49:40

That’ll help a lot with people’s 5 grand a year bills.

I wonder what he’s trying to distract us from this time.

HousePlantQueen Thu 01-Sept-22 14:49:29

Yes I think so. Thank you for posting the link; I am on my phone and some things need a bigger screen. Politics in this country at the moment is like living in a weird drama co written by the Monty Python team and the writers of The League of Gentlemen. Surreal

Is this part of his farewell tour?

HousePlantQueen Thu 01-Sept-22 14:13:59

Johnson on TV today. Telling those with an old kettle to buy a new one for around £20 to save yourself £10 a year on electricity.
