The plotting to get shut of Truss of is already underway.
But the good news is that it could lead to a General Election

In his speech yesterday he thanked Dilyn, and even name checked Larry, but he didn’t thank or mention Carrie

Joseanne Wed 07-Sept-22 07:34:40

This photo was quite poignant. Wilfred's joyful little skip!
I admire Boris and Carrie for not shoving their children into the limelight.

FarNorth Wed 07-Sept-22 07:32:09

I wish she’d worn un underskirt so it wasn’t so clingy
Me too.

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 07:30:50

I didn’t say that it ‘was so’
I was actually shocked that they said it, hence the shock I added.

I give up

Zoejory Wed 07-Sept-22 07:28:42

Just because the Guardian says something doesn't make it so. They're hardly likely to rave about it!

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 07:27:01

Allsorts I see that you were bundling all the ‘unpleasant posts’ together.
As I haven’t said a dicky bird about Ms Truss

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 07:25:01

PS I never said that she didn’t look ‘lovely’
I said that it was ‘a remarkable dress’
Which it evidently is

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 07:23:55

GrannyGravy it was a quote from The Guardian article that VR linked to.
No need for ‘wows’ or crying with laughter emojis!

Casdon Wed 07-Sept-22 07:22:45

People don’t wear bright fuchsia dresses to events which they know will be televised and expect not to be noticed and commented on Allsorts.
I liked her dress, I wish she’d worn un underskirt so it wasn’t so clingy, but otherwise I thought it suited her.

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 07:21:23

The only ‘unpleasant posts’ are from me, so you may as well name me!
The way that you are talking to me Allsorts is actually far more unpleasant than anything I have written.
I have always been kind and polite to you on GN.
I was simply commenting on rather an unusual frock.
It’s in all of the papers.
The ‘bad taste’ quote was taken from The Grauniad.
Is there some sort of Gransnet (Writing) Style Guide that im unaware of?

Wow.

I am obviously a bad taste Gran and I'm happy with that.

She looked lovely.

Apparently I have bad taste also ?

Carrie looked lovely.

Liz will be given time and we'll see what happens.

We don't want a General Election now, it would be madness.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 07-Sept-22 07:08:56

Carries dress is not a ball gown

I think it is lovely, it is not backless, it’s called fashion, maybe not designed for the average age of GN members, but hey ho live and let live.

Allsorts Wed 07-Sept-22 06:58:58

What a lot of unpleasant posts on here. Judgements made on fake news. Is that how you feel about everyone, only you are right.
Pity you don't approve if Carries dress, should have run it by you first. Did Liz look OK? Can't have a pop at her about her privalidged upbringing, do digging for anything. So what if she has changed parties, it's called maturing, looking at the facts, not being set in your ways and seeing the bigger picture. It reminds me of bullies in the playground. She has not been a day in office and in your eyes she's failed. It went through Parliamentry process every thing was done correctly. .it pays to see both sides and the actual facts before giving judgement. She has taken on a nightmare, never has any PM gone be into office with these problems.
If by any chance Boris returned, which I doubt, it would be because he had sufficient votes to do so, I know how tough for those that don't agree. It's called Democracy.

It’s not exactly backless but open backed you can see her back in one of these pictures. Her hair covers some of it. The designers website crashed, so it’s good for their business, www.theguardian.com/global/2022/sep/06/demand-carrie-johnson-backless-fuchsia-dress-crashes-designer-website?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 06:09:54

No, it doesn’t look exactly appropriate.
I think that the pair of them are a bit barking mad to be honest

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 06:08:32

I’ve seen it described as backless too, but I’ve seen a picture of the back, and it is there confused

vegansrock Wed 07-Sept-22 06:06:40

It’s a backless evening dress. Lots of comments in whether it was appropriate for 7.30 in the morning, never mind meeting the Queen at 11.00 am.

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 05:54:41

Ok, so it isn’t actually a ball gown, but it’s very flamboyant

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 05:47:52

‘Morning all.
I know that it’s not always appropriate to comment on politicians spouses, and women’s appearance in particular…
but - did you see Carrie at Balmoral yesterday?
She looked quite remarkable in a
vivid fuchsia ball gown.

vegansrock Wed 07-Sept-22 05:40:24

I’ve mentioned on another thread, but appropriate here- he’s just bought a £3m house near me in S London - nowhere near his constituency. There’s lots of posh schools and young families. But it’s a Labour/ remain stronghold. The locals think it’s hilarious .

Accor ding to Mary Beard Cincinnatus was known as The Enemy Of The People. Sounds about right.

Boris has gone. Let’s see if Liz Truss does deliver.
