It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

So sad she’s died so much a part of my life. We are now going to have to endure Charles and his mistress. The monarchy dies. He should have the country’s best interest at heart and let William and Kate be the head of state. Charles is an eccentric joke.

Yet another inappropriate comment.

At peace with Philip.

Thank you for all the work you have done for the UK and the Commonwealth.

RIP flowers

A lovely story here to illustrate what a wonderful Queen we had

We will have to get used to hearing The King and The Queen Consort. It doesn’t seem quite right, and will take some getting used to.

She was a wonderful lady with such grace and humility, and an incredible sense of duty, how fitting for her to pass away at Balmoral, a place dear to her heart.

William now being the heir, will become Prince of Wales and Kate, Princess of Wales..

No, it’s not automatic Lemsip, He will be appointed Prince of Wales at the King’s discretion.

"The Queen is dead. Long live the King." I am getting that message from family all-round the world. Continuity is so important, especially in current times and for our country.

It's been announced, sad I'm so sad. I've never known another monarch. For most of my life I took no notice of her, I've come to appreciate her in the last 20 years or so. She came across as an excellent person who went about her duties in a stoic manner, never complaining. We've seen a lovely side of late, firstly the clever James Bond interlude during the opening of the Olympics and latterly the Paddington sketch. Just the other day, when she looked so tiny and frail but still smiling. That's how I'll remember her.

RIP our wonderful Queen so many of us are really going to miss you.

That smile and that twinkle in her eye, a wonderful lady, a marvellous Queen. She will be missed ?

well, I didn't make it up did I. I read it on the news just a short while ago !

I’m glad that she died in Scotland. I think that’s why she wanted to stay there.

fairfraise Thu 08-Sept-22 18:57:15

It is the saddest news. She's always been there. Always such a radiant smile.

RIP Queen Elizabeth. The country is in turmoil and you have been a stabilising and unifying force. Such dignity, such devotion to public service and such decency. What a loss for our country, to lose our Head of State at this time of uncertainty.
And - I’m not really a monarchist

Imo this isn’t the time, or the thread, for the people who persistently criticise Harry (and his wife) to be posting negatively. The RF face difficulties, just like all of us. Leave off for pity’s sake,

The Queen has been part of my life ever since I was born. I remember watching her Coronation on a black and white TV. I was 7 years old!

DaisyAnne Thu 08-Sept-22 19:02:28

Rory Stewart has just tweeted: All our love and all our respect for a life of such great dignity, honour and achievement.

Millie22 Thu 08-Sept-22 19:02:33

The Queen was such a special person ?

Harris27 Thu 08-Sept-22 19:05:46

God bless the queen we will never have another monarch like her. RIP.

I keep crying and crying. My own mother just died too. I feel bereft.

I’m still in tears. RIP Elizabeth. .

Having watched the tribute from Liz Truss , I am glad that she is our PM and not Johnson. She is at least a grown up politician.

NoddingGanGan Thu 08-Sept-22 19:15:38

I'm mourning our queen because of her personal qualities but I think she is the last of the line worthy of the title. Monarchy is outmoded. That kind of life has no place in 21st century western civilisation. Charles is just not made of the same stuff anyway. I will never call him King or recognise him as such. I feel sorry for him as I would for any devoted son who had just lost his mother. The queen is dead, God rest her soul, long live the republic!
