It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

Noddinggangan your remarks are totally inappropriate for this thread.

glammagran Thu 08-Sept-22 19:45:22

So very, very sad if not entirely unexpected. She has been Queen my whole life and I feel like a rug had been pulled from under me. ?

nadateturbe Thu 08-Sept-22 19:45:47

Feeling extremely tearful at this loss for us all. Rest in piece Your Majesty. xxx

MaizieD Thu 08-Sept-22 19:59:55

I feel so very sad. I was 3 when she came to the throne and has been part of our lives for so long. My deepest sympathies to her family who evidently deeply loved her, and were loved by her.

So sorry to hear about your mother, Maddy flowers

Sago

A lovely story here to illustrate what a wonderful Queen we had

What a lovely story, Sago
Two wonderful people with a devotion for duty.

A monarch with an inherent sense of duty to the end. She was a constant throughout most of my my life and for 70 years the steadfast heart of the nation.

RIP Queen Elizabeth II

Ashcombe Thu 08-Sept-22 20:07:14

An example to all with her sense of duty and commitment.

SuzieHi Thu 08-Sept-22 20:10:15

RIP Queen Elizabeth. A quiet dignified end for her, working until 2 days before she left this world. Probably with Charles and Anne nearby.
I wonder if Philip’s final landrover will be included in her funeral- the simplicity and love shown would be wonderful

Happysexagenarian Thu 08-Sept-22 20:12:12

Such a sad day for our country.
But she is free of pain now and at peace with her beloved Philip.
Thank you Ma'am for your love and devotion to your country.

God Save the King.

Boris Johnson's statement

Yes, I did too.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 08-Sept-22 20:20:16

For once Mr.Johnson has got it spot on.

MadeInYorkshire Thu 08-Sept-22 20:23:27

I feel like the whole world has turned upside down somehow, what with this cost of living crisis, the Tories not caring about how we are going to manage this winter and now this - everything is just horrible ....

eazybee Thu 08-Sept-22 20:24:40

Boris's statement expresses what so many of us feel, a deep and personal sense of loss at a bright and shining light that has finally gone out, and I think in the later years of her life we came to recognise and appreciate her qualities.
And she slipped away quietly as I think she would have wished.

I'm mourning our queen because of her personal qualities but I think she is the last of the line worthy of the title. Monarchy is outmoded. That kind of life has no place in 21st century western civilisation. Charles is just not made of the same stuff anyway. I will never call him King or recognise him as such. I feel sorry for him as I would for any devoted son who had just lost his mother. The queen is dead, God rest her soul, long live the republic!

This is neither the time nor the place.

@Joane123 unnecessarily rude.

I thought @Joane123 was remarkably restrained
