It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

Am I alone in finding all this “when will she die”? speculation distasteful?

No you are not alone.

She has been Queen since I was 7 or 8, I believe, but my life won't be impacted. That said prayers reduce stress.

Perhaps praying is better than speculation.

Harry and Meghan are on their way

JenniferEccles Thu 08-Sept-22 13:53:10

She looked so tiny when she met Liz Truss but the beautiful, genuine smile was still there wasn’t it?
Like everyone I feel so sad.
Anyway, lets not get ahead of ourselves. Very elderly folk can and do recover and live for a few more years. Fingers crossed or prayers from the believers.

Feels like my Grandmother is dying. Very sad. ?

icanhandthemback Thu 08-Sept-22 13:51:07

Pittcity, you might be right. To be honest, even if there hasn't been a serious illness being treated, the loss of the DofE would have had a significant psychological impact on her. I know when my Grandad lost his brother who he had visited every day since his wife had died, he literally faded away. It was tragic. It was like he just lost the will to live.

Feeling sad and tearful.

It sounds as though there has been some "episode" - stroke or heart attack maybe. I cannot think of any other reason for a sudden decline over and above her slowly developing frailty.

Let's hope she goes in peace.

Mollygo Thu 08-Sept-22 13:46:56

Its definitely worrying. It’s going to be such a sad event when the queen dies. I really hoped she’d make it to 100.

tickingbird Thu 08-Sept-22 13:46:42

She looked frail in that picture meeting Truss. It’s very sad as she’s all we’ve ever known. I’m feeling rather emotional- silly really but I am.

According to BBC news Anne, Edward and Andrew are also on their way to Balmoral.

MawtheMerrier Thu 08-Sept-22 13:42:20

Just announced that Anne, Andrew, Edward and Sophie are all there or on their way.sad

Millie22 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:41:41

I feel very sad. Can't really think of a time without the Queen.

FannyCornforth Thu 08-Sept-22 13:41:39

Thank you WW, that is beautiful

Zonne Thu 08-Sept-22 13:39:52

I’m not a royalist, but have sympathy for her family at this time.

I assume she has had some inkling of this, and that is why Harry is in the UK, and that her family have all visited recently. I hope so, anyway.

“I asked you all, whatever your religion, to pray for me on the day of my Coronation - to pray that God would give me wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that I should then be making. I have been uplifted and sustained by the knowledge that your prayers were with me.”

Queen Elizabeth 11

I caught the news headlines and have tears in my eyes. She must be gravely ill for an announcement to be made about her health. My thought are with all her family.

Ailidh Thu 08-Sept-22 13:36:05

Like others, I am sad to have come in to this news.

My Mum made it to 96 and, while frail and in her (own choice) splendid nursing home, she was as alert as a box of foxes and pretty fit - until one day she was not.

I will cry.

Sara1954 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:34:02

I feel really sad, I always thought she’d make it to a hundred.
Hope she’s comfortable and pain free, I feel almost tearful.

MawtheMerrier Thu 08-Sept-22 13:33:45

One would hope so.

ixion Thu 08-Sept-22 13:31:43

Surely Anne and Edward will come too, as 'family? Not just the line of succession?

MawtheMerrier Thu 08-Sept-22 13:30:41

I have just come home and am hearing this for the first time.
I agree with all those who said she looked even smaller, thinner and frailer. The wonderful smile still lit up the room though didn’t it?
So Charles and William are there or on their way.
Given that Harry is this side of the pond - where is he? It would be unforgivable in my book if he flew back to the US without seeing her. ???

foxie48 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:26:45

There just comes a time to depart this earth. MIL reached 101 but started to show signs of heart failure, everything was becoming more difficult. Initially, she had medication to remove the fluid from round her heart but she reached a point when she needed stronger drugs and her quality of life was severely affected by the side effects. She asked to be allowed to die, she was still her usual cheerful self and completely sound of mind, but she'd had enough. She died peacefully at home with us as she had wanted after a very happy and long life. 96 is a very good age.

tanith Thu 08-Sept-22 13:26:30

I fear very soon the next bulletin will be very sad news. ?
