It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

Anniebach Thu 08-Sept-22 15:24:15

The media has to wait for an official announcement

imaround Thu 08-Sept-22 15:26:16

I am watching closely here in the US. The Queen, the people in the UK and the Commonweath, are all in my prayers.

FannyCornforth Thu 08-Sept-22 15:26:46

It’s so difficult for the reporters, and indeed anyone on air.
What do you say while this happens?
We won’t see her like again. She is emblematic of a certain age and mindset.
There will be Elizabeth I, Victoria, and Elizabeth II.
Historical and cultural icons all.
True majesty

If it is the Queens last day then it is a very sad day. She always seems so balanced and in charge of the errant members of her family.

Remember her lovely and caring speech to us all during Covid?

I, too, hope she is comfortable and I also hope her descendants can make peace between themselves before she goes. I bet that's what she's wishing for too.

The flag lowering person has just gone into no 10 by the back door.

crazyH Thu 08-Sept-22 15:34:12

Why are the newsreaders wearing black - she’s still alive

I’m a strong Republican but??

... me, too WWM. ?

She will be the end of an era.

Georgesgran Thu 08-Sept-22 15:35:18

I don’t think Pit meant anything nasty. Another post echoed some of it.

What time is it where you are imaround?

Baggs Thu 08-Sept-22 15:36:48

I don't either. Back off, nanoo. This is not the time for aggressive remarks.

I’m not liking the BBC’s wall to wall coverage and speculation.

Ignore the trouble maker

Not liking all the speculation here on GN either!

I am in Mountain DST right now. It is 8:42 am.

They are putting out a lot of barriers outside Buckingham Palace. It really doesn't look good. QE has been an absolute boon to the UK.
I have a photo of my Nan on the day she died. She looked so alive and well, it seems hard to believe that she was dead a few hours later. However, when I look at that photo, I rejoice that she looked happy and well. I hope that we can look on the final photo (if it is) with Liz Truss with the same focus.

I'm already feeling sad and bereft our Queen has just always been there, background and foreground. She truly is simply remarkable and inspirational, exhibiting so many honest and good values. I'm so very thankful for her lifetime of service, the like of which I don't think we shall ever see again.

sharon103 Thu 08-Sept-22 15:55:07

Feeling very sad.

BlueBelle Thu 08-Sept-22 15:55:14

Why would she already be dead? what would be the point in lying about it whether it happened yesterday today or tomorrow I don’t see the point pretending she’s still alive if she’s already gone I don’t get it
Surely there all rushing to see her now and say goodbye to her

I think they're doing a good job....they are being very respectful.

They have to stay on air, it is the BBCS remit at such times.

Hugh Edwards has the gravitas and experience to be the anchorman. It's not an easy job but I think he's doing well.

humptydumpty Thu 08-Sept-22 15:58:32

I feel that with all the royals heading to Balmoral, she is probably still alive. Maybe she has had a stroke. ( Sorry if this has been said many times, only just looked on here).

Derbyshirelass, quite so. It’s so difficult to navigate isn’t it.
Hugh Edwards will have had ‘training’ on this

Greyduster Thu 08-Sept-22 16:00:37

I’m extremely sad. To many service and ex-service people, she was The Boss, and she never stopped being The Boss, even when you retired. She was a constant and an inspiration for all the people. That she had a good long life is a blessing, and something that, sadly, her father didn’t have.
