This BH was unexpected and in fact some funerals will still be going ahead. This particular one was postponed and it must be very upsetting but I hope it will take place the next day.

Earlier this year, the funeral of a dear friend was delayed two months, - and we couldn't even blame the Queen.

It seems very odd that when the decision not cancel the funeral was made by aScottish funeral director, a Scottish Crematorium, a Scottish council or the Scottish government the anger is t directed at them, the people responsible ?

I think it's appalling that the funeral should be cancelled/postponed at such short notice, though, obviously, not the late Queen's fault.

I presume the emergency services and carehome workers will be working as usual? I think that other essential workers should be required to work too.

I know it's A Moment in History but if it had been up to me I would sooner have watched the moment on catch up than do this to a bereaved family.

Its a bank holiday...crematorium staff are not emergency services...they get the usual bank holidays...so they will get this one....I'm classed as essential worker ( Nurse) but I'm not emergency services, I dont work Mondays...so I will get hours added to my leave to take at a later date ....its the same for much of the public sector....certainly not the queens fault

It’s a bank holiday. Surely crematoria staff, undertakers and clergymen are just as entitled as other working people to take that day off if they wish. Of course it will be a major inconvenience for many, as will the cancelled medical appointments and operations. Blame the people involved in the cancellation of the funeral if you must, but to describe it as the ultimate act of entitlement is both very wrong and very disrespectful.

Just not the undertakers and clergymen facilitating the Queen's funeral though?

Normally Bank Holiday dates are known well in advance and funerals, civil weddings, etc. are not booked for those dates. However, there was no advance warning for this Bank Holiday, which has meant that arranged ceremonies have been cancelled and will have to wait a while for an available slot. So upsetting/insensitive for the families involved. I do feel that an exception should have been made for already booked ceremonies.

Some funerals are still going ahead, why that of her dear friend is not must be a decision taken locally for some reason.

Why are people seeking to downplay paddyanne's upsets, and even say that its all been done in agreement with the family?

Our local Co Op is saying that funerals planned for the 19th will go ahead, unless families want things altered.

The National Association of Funeral Directors made an announcement on social media amid speculation.

It read: "We've been asked if any other funerals will go ahead on Monday 19th September. Although work is still ongoing, some funerals will go ahead, others are moving to a different date - led by the needs & wishes of the bereaved families involved.

"^Most funeral services booked for 19 September will have been arranged many weeks ago, so funeral directors and cemeteries/crematoria are working with families to find the best approach for each one^."

And she sent the most beautiful flowers to me, with a simple card reading ‘Thinking of you.’
We had a family wreath so no other flowers, these beautiful flowers were just for me.

I’m just relieved that my mother’s funeral was on Monday 12th and went ahead as planned. We could so easily have chosen the next week as there were problems about fixing the date so that everyone could attend, except my daughter in New Zealand, who eventually said ‘don’t worry about me, I won’t come, you’re having too much trouble getting a date that the others can attend,’ She sent a message instead which was read out at the funeral by my lovely niece. It all went very well and I hope the Queen’s funeral goes well too. I feel very sorry for any family faced with waiting even longer for their family member’s funeral, it will be very distressing for them. A family death is very distressing whoever you are, the Queen, my mother, or anyone else’s family member.
