I so hope so- FPTP aleniates huge sections of the population and is so undemocratic. With a minimum percentage, as in Germany, to avoid a multitude of silly monster parties.

Fingers crossed indeed.

PR is a much fairer form of democracy as it takes account of all votes, not just the main parties. It would help prevent the see-sawing between right and left wing governments and the subsequent long term costs to the tax payer.

PR is used for assembly elections here in Northern Ireland. Much debate about whether one should vote all the way down the list or not. Personally there are a couple of parties I couldn't bear to vote for so I only vote for the more moderate ones. It's a complicated process but better than general election system.

I keep reading that is is very likely that Labour is going to vote for PR at Conference

Everything crossed????
