What do we think of Kwarteng’s statement?

Fleurpepper Thu 29-Sept-22 13:30:38

We have talked about experts a lot in recent years. This guy is not expert, but he sums the current situation really well on the JOB programme.

Urmstongran.

Do you miss the point on purpose?

Also, I'm not sure that Truss ever had any political capital...

Please note that you can't use Germany to show how badly things were managed one day, then the next day use them as an example of how we should be doing things.

Urmstongran Thu 29-Sept-22 13:19:32

I wish our PM had been really 'controversial' and used her political capital to question the soundness of this forced transition to renewables. Please note that Germany after years of economic decline did not build more turbines to recover, but returned to coal, gas and nuclear.

Thank you for the explanation. You could be right.

Oh look, the phantom post reporter has been at it again...

I would like to read your post MazieD Perhaps you can rephrase your point, so you don’t get reported.

It really wasn't worth reading, so don't think you've missed anything.
But it really wasn't worth reporting, either. and I'm astounded at how fast the mods moved to delete it, when you see them leave spam posts up for hours, if not days, after multiple reports.

It really does feel as though there are posters on Gnet with special privileges when it comes to having posts deleted.

However, let's move on. National politics is far more interesting ?

Yesterday a Tory spokesman revealed the plan was to return to the growth rate we had in the early 2000s, so I refreshed my memory what happened, note the date on this BBC article

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/6643601.stm

We all know what happened afterwards.

I voted blue.

There are definitely Conservatives and Conservatives and with you are cheering this lot on, you Urmstongran are definitely on who would back this type of "Conservative".

Let’s not forget - Starmer, the man who tried to subvert a democratic vote remember.

What on earth are you talking about?

I'm glad I'm not the only person baffled by this post.

I'd love to know who reported me, though... Extraordinary how fast the mods moved...There must be a hotline...

Reported you for what???

I didn’t report you MaizieD.

Yes, there are and some are definitely just to the right of centre but I can't seem to remember who they are any more. They've melted away or been sidelined.

to be fair Maizie, she reminded people the other night that people who post irrational posts are often under the influence of alcoholhmm

But there seems to be a misunderstanding. "Irrational" doesn't mean something with which one disagrees.

It's often said that people who accuse people of things have personal experience ... it could be true.

I certainly won't and will remind as many people as I can ahead of any general election.

Oh, and Jo Swinson. Lib Dem’s darling at the time.
Until she wasn’t.

People who have no argument often have to resort to smearing the other side. Pathetic!

Hey not me (much).
2 x 175ml glasses of vino. My allowance on my new diet.
You cannot blame ‘being under the influence’ for my views!

Stand by for a bonfire of Public Services, and privatisation of NHS come November, with this huge debt being racked up being used as an excuse. Just watch this space.

They are according to one of their supporters planning to do just that.

We are all going to pay for making the rich richer, both by paying for the massive amount of debt and catastrophic loss of our public services.

sad
people were warned about this and they still went hand in hand to vote blue

In which case he knew exactly what would happen, no excuses, no way this man should be chancellor.

KK acutally worked for that man. Possibly the reason they were laughing their head off at the Queen's funeral

'The hedge fund boss who once employed the chancellor has predicted that sterling will weaken further after his firm bet on the continued fall in the value of the pound.

Crispin Odey is one of at least two prominent Conservative donors who have made fortunes by betting on the pound’s decline. He believes it could reach parity against the US dollar for the first time, or even fall below it.

Kwasi Kwarteng worked at Odey Asset Management, the firm Odey founded, before becoming an MP. The value of the company’s flagship European hedge fund is up about 145 per cent this year.'

From The Times.

I cant say I'm surprised Fleurpepper at your reporting of the findings, but I still have the naivety to be shocked. Probity in public life indeed.

And from The Times, not the Guardian or European!
