* …that you knew nothing about and had no idea why they feel as they do.*

Same. You have no idea why I feel as I do.

Galaxy Sat 29-Oct-22 17:32:25

That's true of everyone.

LizzieDrip Sat 29-Oct-22 17:35:54

Exactly!

Iam64 Sat 29-Oct-22 18:35:08

Ive been not much on gransnet. Just caught up with this thread to find another flouncer, accusing others of transphobia, absent any evidence in support of that nasty accusation.

RoleenCooney, good to meet you, apologies my infrequent catch ups mean it’s the first time I met you. Cracking user name

LizzieDrip
I have no idea why you feel as you do, but whereas if I did know I would try to be sensitive to your feelings, it wouldn't really alter mine - how could it?

You asked if I would be happy to be treated by a male nurse, and I answered yes. Would I care what he did in this private life - no. Nobody else has said anything very different, have they?

Accusing people of transphobia is serious, yet you make that claim on very little evidence. All anyone has said is that it is not on for a transwoman to claim to BE a woman. Be a transwoman by all means, but don't make false claims, particularly when in a role where touching women intimately is routine.

Flouncing rather than engaging does not further your cause, unfortunately - whatever it is.

You said you wouldn’t be commenting anymore?

LizzieDrip Sat 29-Oct-22 20:09:02

Criticised for ‘flouncing’ and criticised for commenting. Wow!

FarNorth Sat 29-Oct-22 20:27:24

Your 'comment' LizzieDrip was just a website address, not even a link, and nothing about your own views.

From the website, would I be right to assume that you think trans people actually are the sex they claim to be, or no sex at all if they are non-binary?

If I'm wrong, please let us know what you do think.

NanKate Sat 29-Oct-22 20:28:30

What happened to free speech ? Why can’t we have varying views?

Lizziedrip you accused many GN members of being transphobic when they patently aren’t. It has been stated over and over that we are happy for men to dress in female attire, put on make-up, lead the lives they want. If you want to say they are now women so be it, so why can’t we say they are men dressed as women?

So many questions and so few reasoned answers, just accusations.

Finally my late cousin was trans and we had a good relationship.

FarNorth Sat 29-Oct-22 20:35:57

LizzieDrip a quick glance at that website shows it has incorrect information about the single-sex exceptions of the Equality Act.
These need not be applied case-by-case, as stated there.
Here is a link to UK government info on the single-sex exceptions.

LizzieDrip Sat 29-Oct-22 20:36:35

Web site is for information about the definition of transphobia. Apologies that it’s not a link but easy to access the website, for anyone interested. I’m not adding any more of my views to this ‘discussion’.

NanKate Sat 29-Oct-22 20:43:49

Is it because you can’t answer my questions Lizzie. I tried to be fair showing both sides of the argument.

LizzieDrip Sat 29-Oct-22 20:48:48

NanKate, free speech and differing views are precisely what I want.,

If you want to say they are now women so be it, so why can’t we say they are men dressed as women?

I’m confused here - I’m happy for trans people to be described as either of the above. It’s posters on here that vehemently say ‘they cannot be described as women’!

Galaxy Sat 29-Oct-22 20:56:23

That's a belief protected by law Lizzie.

FarNorth Sat 29-Oct-22 20:56:51

How can you be happy with either LizzieDrip?
A person can't be both woman and man.

Although izzard claims to have both 'girl mode' and 'boy mode', everyone knows that he always has a male body and is therefore a man at all times.

TerriBull Sat 29-Oct-22 21:05:51

A very good observational article by Janice Turner in today's Times entitled "There's More to Womanhood Than High Heels" the idea that EI can flick between "boy mode" and "girl mode" whenever he feels like it is a self serving travesty. When asked by US Podcaster Joe Rogan how he moved from girl to boy (I'm still reeling as to why he can't use Man to Woman given he's 60 years old jsut wondering whether he thinks these infantile descriptions make him appear more chummy hmm However, I digress, his answer to Rogan was framed "moving into boy mode" "I take off my heels" Janice Turner goes on to say, and speaks I imagine for many of us "the arrogance of a man defining the female condition to the sexist crap they've long abhorred" Reminds me of Caitlyn Jenner, when asked what's the hardest thing about being a woman their riposte "deciding what to wear" Yeah it's really that facile, it's all about our high heels, lipstick and pretty frocks, what a load of stereotypical boy mode bollox silliness!

FarNorth Sat 29-Oct-22 21:09:22

At least Jenner knows that transwomen shouldn't be in women's sports.

Galaxy Sat 29-Oct-22 21:11:00

I think Izzard is deeply deeply sexist. He doesnt even try to hide it.

Criticised for ‘flouncing’ and criticised for commenting. Wow!

But that’s what you do Lizzie. Criticise and then say you’ll leave us to it.
Use your criticisms to judge your own posts. You’ll find they’re quite accurate.

I rarely use the term women, which means Adult Human Female because the word women has been corrupted by men to suit their purpose.

As I said before, apparently you think it’s OK for men to lie and fraudulently present themselves as females.

How can you criticise others for not believing the lie that you accept?

TerriBull Sat 29-Oct-22 21:15:50

Yes I'll give her that, Caitlyn Jenner, that is, she made that fatuous remark a while back, but since then she has spoken out about boundaries in female only changing areas and trans women having unfair advantages in female sport. I respect her for that.

RoleenCooney Sat 29-Oct-22 22:10:50

"I think Izzard is deeply deeply sexist. He doesnt even try to hide it"

It's all about power. He and others like him are telling women that there's nowhere a man can't be and nowhere that they can't access. It's about removing power from women, especially in places where they're likely to feel the most vulnerable.
I'll swop you your link for this one LizzieDrip. Mines less misogynistic.

FarNorth Sat 29-Oct-22 22:17:35

forwomen.scot/ are indeed excellent RoleenCooney and, as you probably know, have already won a court case challenging ScotGov's attempt to redefine the terms 'woman' and 'man'.

SparklyGrandma Sat 29-Oct-22 22:24:08

FarNorth. Snap.

Spot on, Roleen. Misogyny is at the root of the trans movement (as opposed to the driver for 'genuine' transwomen of the type who just want to live their lives in peace.
