Our local police have had to close this bridge this morning due to protesters climbing up high, endangering themselves and others along with prevent thousands of folks getting to work.

We all know the planet has problems, but disruptive behaviour alienating those who they wish to bring in board to their cause is not the way to go.

Blondiescot a flippant remark, and sub serious suggestion
- and appalling proof reading Between my numb fingers and dyspraxic mind, some psots are worse than others. This was one of my bad days! smile

Put a cold hose the eejits, they'll soon come down and let other people get on with their lives and get to important places they need to get to. It's alright for them having the time just to hang about, others don't.

I have the perfect punishment. Lock them in a cell with speakers and force them to listen to hundreds of people moaning at them for the next 10 days. They will hear from everyone they have inconvenienced telling their story (missed hospital appointment, funeral, wedding, flight, train, whatever). Eventually they will realise what little sh**s they are.

The police have brought the two clowns down and immediately arrested them.

At flipping last!

Actually if we want an examole of poklice 'wokery' surely it is in their treatment of these protesters. They should just leave them up there and open the bridge. Eventually the pprotesters will get bored and they must by now be running low on food and water - and what are they doing when they need a pee or sh*t?

The police are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Grantanow Tue 18-Oct-22 17:16:12

Just open the bridge and leave them up there. They'll come down soon enough when they freeze. Putting up a platform and negotiators is a waste of public money. The media circus will move on if there is nothing to see.

There is a funny ( although some won’t get the humour) video on TikTok where there is a video of the protester talking then it quickly turns to Del Boy with his sawn off shotgun.
I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.

Yes! I've seen that. Got to love Tiktok ❤️

I've been wondering that.

How much extra pollution has been pumped in the air and how much more oil and diesel used because of these these silly little attention seekers?

I think we should all do a rain dance ?

I am up for that ?☔️

GrannyGravy13 Tue 18-Oct-22 16:06:32

Essex Police have just announced that a raised platform is arriving imminently in order for negotiators to get closer to the (idiots) protestors.

Kamiso
That’s a long way to throw a truncheon ?

Mollygo Tue 18-Oct-22 15:57:59

Kamiso Ooh yes! Though they would probably stop the traffic even more effectively than those ***up there.
(I’m only joking)

katy1950 Tue 18-Oct-22 15:57:54

Why don't the police just leave them up there let the traffic flow over the bridge they will soon get down if they see being ignored sod the health safety it was thier choice

Kamiso Tue 18-Oct-22 15:49:02

Can’t we import some French police with their truncheons? I am sure the correct documentation can be arranged.

The expert is about to educate us with her profound knowledge and experience of everything we know nothing about.

Oh Jeez! Does she really have to!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 18-Oct-22 15:44:54

After two days of disruption, re-open the bridge and just ignore these two menaces to society.

Like other posters have already said, people have missed funerals, hospital appointments, job interviews, trains and flights.

Enough disruption has been caused, time to move on.

I'd like to know what other countries would do if they had 'protestors' doing the same thing. Would they close the Brooklyn Bridge or the Golden Gate Bridge if this happened? If not then it would be a non-event and wouldn't make the news.

You know the capitol of Canada was gridlocked and shut down for a month, yes?

rosie1959 Tue 18-Oct-22 15:42:45

Definitely leave them up there, slow the traffic and get things moving.

Rosie51 Tue 18-Oct-22 15:42:18

Mr Trowland added: "We're disrupting the economy and the government can't tolerate the country being disrupted.
"We're going to occupy this for as long as we can."
He said the police were in control of the bridge and the group had not blocked any roads.

Mr Trowland is the bridge designer up there. So they are deliberately disrupting the economy, when the country is suffering from a collapsed pound already. Then trying weasel words to escape punishment. It's blackmail pure and simple, do what we want or we'll cause havoc.

Chestnut Tue 18-Oct-22 15:36:28

As I said, closing the bridge was a knee-jerk reaction and not thought through, because they had no idea how long they would stay up there. They should have kept the bridge open and ignored them.

They look rather snug in their hammocks.

Latest statement from them is they will not come down until they are forcibly removed.

They know that to do such a thing will put other lives in danger.

So now they are not content with causing havoc to drivers trying to go about their business, they want other people to risk their lives getting them down unbelievable!
