Why on earth was Boris on holiday?

He spent most of the Summer with his family in Greece and in Slovenia- when he was still PM, and in a crisis.

But then we could argue Parliament was in recess...

But last couple of weeks? He is still MP for UXbridge, and paid for it. He should therefore have been in his Constituency, doing his job, serving his Consituents, and representing them in the House. How can this be allowed?

Joseanne

I just get fed up with people analysing any policitician's wealth all the time .... how much their house is worth, how much their holiday costs, how much they paid for their smart shoes, whether they drink expensive wine etc etc. Some people have the money, let them afford these things, and try concentrate more on their competency to lead and govern.

Of course Mp's finances should be open to scrutiny whilst they are in office, in fact the higher the office, the tighter that scrutiny needs to be. I'm shocked that anyone would think otherwise.

Urmstongran I like and respect you as a person but I really cannot understand your blind hero worship of Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

JaneJudge Sun 23-Oct-22 19:43:00

he can't know much about what the country is going through if he lives abroad the whole time on holiday . Who does his surgeries or is he like my MP and doesn't actually do them?

and I don't hate him but I work really hard, as do lots of people in this country and I get paid very little even though I care about the people for and work with. What is the point of him>

JaneJudge Sun 23-Oct-22 19:40:03

it's now the last week in October, it's November next week

Fleurpepper Sun 23-Oct-22 19:36:16

Yes, when he was away non stop.

So why did he need to go away last 2 weeks, in session?

Urmstongran Sun 23-Oct-22 19:20:13

Fleurpepper Parliament was in recess from mid July until mid September. Which was last month.

Yet neither of you refute what I have pointed out.

Many MP’s (different stripes) take holidays when the House is sitting if family constraints dictate it.

Teachers don’t/can’t so what’s the difference?

Nandalot Sun 23-Oct-22 19:08:37

What family constraints does Johnson have that he ‘needed’ to take a holiday during the parliamentary session, Urmstongran?

Luckygirl3 Sun 23-Oct-22 19:07:51

I expect the poor man was tired. grin

And the summer recess then Casdon? 8 weeks (I think).
That’s last month.

They went back on 23rd September. I highly doubt any other MPs have spent two months on holiday from July to September, then decided that they really deserved another holiday immediately so didn’t bother to turn up even once at work. Come on now, he’s taking the mickey.

No-one can be expected to refute a comment made purely without any facts behind it.

Got any examples of the "many MPs" who are skivers?

Not for three months Urmstongran. If you read the article, the last time he voted in the house was in July!

midgey Sun 23-Oct-22 18:55:13

You may well be right UG but possibly only once a year.

Joseanne Sun 23-Oct-22 18:52:58

He didn't get much of a tan while away, did he? That might imply he was indoors working!

Well after the summer recess he will have assumed the country was safe in the hands of Liz Truss.

Aw c’mon - all MP’s who have families will have partners who take annual leave according to the constraints of the job. Doctors or nurses or police who work take holidays on a rota basis. Don’t tell me their MP partner says “I can’t join you darling, sorry, the House is sitting”.

Hmmm..

I am continually amazed at what shenanigans people are prepared to accept from that man.

Haters gonna hate.

Don't you believe MPs should do the job they are elected, and paid, to do?

Sure I do. But it’s half term in the schools folks.
Boris won’t be the only MP spending a few days away with his family. I bet.

Our half term is next week. Is he going to take a week off for every variety of half term?

And his children aren't even old enough to go to school...

He's spent more time with his family this year than he has with his job...

Of course he wasn't working remotely, GG13.

By all accounts he did very little when he was in office. Leopards don't change their spots...

There's been no hatred on this thread has there? What a funny comment.
