Not long enough for Braverman to have found her heart and soul either! Don't think she ever will.

A HUGE mistake for Sunak.

Yes I agree.

He seems to be hedging his bets with a mix of Cabinet members. More Remainers than Brexiters.

Perhaps Braverman's appointment is to appease those on the right and re-unite the Tories.

Yep Callistemon. I think that's exactly what he's done and many political pundits have been saying the same thing.

That whole resignation/sacking whatever was rather strange. Those that know what they're talking about were saying it wasn't a sackable offence.

Who knows if Braverman and Truss were involved in a massive fight as has been alleged.

It's been a frenetic few days.

The Right = her secret group- the ERG. It is time Starmer and others request for a declared list of all members. There should be no secret society within our political parties.

Remember this 'car-crash' interview with Braverman re the ERG?

www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/krishnan-guru-murthy-masterclass-nails-suella-braverman-over-erg-329234/

That list has never ever been provided.

I have to say I had 24 hours of feeling positive but there were some of his choices for cabinet that brought me back to earth with a bump. The appointments of Gavin Williamson, Suella Braverman, Robert Jenrick could be said to be going to add either integrity or competence to his government.

I realise he had to do it. That was decided before they went to count the votes and found only one person had passed 100. I imagine the three of them told him they would vote in exchange for their chosen positions or they, and their followers, would vote for whoever was nearest to 100, causing an MP vote and a vote of members - which Sunak would have lost.

Nothing much else will happen now - all things being equal - until we hear the now to be delayed Autumn Statement.

could be said could not be said

Sigh.

It all makes me so sad. How do we teach our GC what integrity means?

There’s more to the Braverman sacking than the texting I believe. She ducked out of a confrontation with Yvette today but Labour will continue to press for an enquiry into what happened.

"I have to say I had 24 hours of feeling positive", you managed 23 hrs longer than me then.angry

ERG pressure?

MayBee70 Wed 26-Oct-22 22:39:43

She’s in the ERG I believe. She also belongs to some weird Buddhist sect ( as if the ERG isn’t enough!).

MaizieD Wed 26-Oct-22 23:33:23

She was Chair of the ERG at one time. There's a clip circulating on twitter of an interview in which she refused to say which MPs were members of the group.

MayBee70 Thu 27-Oct-22 00:42:15

Rory Stewart says there are 27-30 members. He also says the party is now split into 12 different factions.

MayBee70 Thu 27-Oct-22 00:44:16

I know I keep saying that it’s like we’re being governed by some weird cult but we really are! And they don’t come weirder than that uber religious Steve wotsisname. ( Baker? )

Everything that's going on in British Politics is so embarrasing. Never seen a government so incompetent in all my years, other countries must be laughing at us sad

Periods of either ignoring the news, or just accepting that this is politics, keep me sane Normandygirl.

It doesn't make things good, but it does appear Sunak has taken the heat out of our news reporting when it comes our politics. It will not last, but I am grateful for it while being fully aware I may not like the outcomes.
