The reason people on the Kent coast cannot afford housing is to do with people in London buying second homes
Or even first homes because people can't afford London prices and parts of Kent have become trendy.
Our commuter town (38 minutes direct train to the City) has definitely had its house prices pushed up by folks moving out of London.
New build 2 bed flats are going for around £300,000, rentals for 1/2 bedroom flats are in the region of £1,000.
Someone we know has just had their 3 bed semi valued £600,000.
It is extremely expensive to live in the S E, folks are still working from home and the local coffee shops, restaurants and takeaways are booming.
