Whereas I am definitely not trying to play down the truth that nasty and obvious threats were made, recently I have noticed there have been a number of court cases regarding stalking, threatening behaviour and even death threats. All of which must have been truly frightening for the victims involved.
I do not doubt the concern of the Duke of Sussex for the safety of his wife and family, any caring husband would react similarly. Fortunately, he was in a position to employ his own security staff, the problem was who should be paying for it as they are no longer working members of the Royal family and, as I understood it, private companies would not be allowed to use fire arms if they became necessary. Regrettably others have not been in a financial position to to employ 24 hour security staff and could only expect limited help from the police even though they have lived in this country and paid taxes.
Just as aside, it would be interesting to know how many threats are sent to members of the Royal family that are not made public.
