You might be getting a bit of an unbalanced view of the feelings of the country as a whole Gingersnapchap Although some posters on Gransnet feel very strongly indeed. Most of the rest of us Brits are not really invested enough to be bothered one way or the other.

I’m sure there are plenty of people unbothered by the goings on of the rich and famous. I don’t mean to give the impression that I view Gransnet posters as a representation of Brits in general. The internet is a place where the most extreme views will always be highlighted. Meanwhile in the real world, life is going about as usual. My husband manages a team that is partially based in London. He works remotely, so I hear him ask about current events on the other side of the pond. His UK based workers don’t seem remotely bothered by half of what I read on the net. That’s life! Lol

I must have missed the racist comments Gingersnapschat as I haven't seen anyone criticise Meghan because of her race, so perhaps you can give an example of a racist comment that you've seen on this thread.

As far as the commonwealth is concerned monarch did not set it up or run it. There is a book can’t remember at moment that clears up any misunderstandings of what commonwealth is.

As far as privacy is concerned Meg and Haz do have privacy on their own terms not following palace protocol or dictates
They earn their own money doing good causes, and getting an award. Harry in his own words had to protect his family so they got away. They put their side of the story, good.

The monarchy is a waste of space and money. A monarch can’t defend our laws from rouge PM but can vet laws to benefit themselves. They waste public money daily on their own pastimes.

Meghan has done the same as her father, exactly the same, sold family info to the highest bidder.
Harry has done worse, betrayed his father and brother and Aunts, uncles and cousins not really for money but for misplaced revenge.
Some poster on this thread wrote that it doesn’t matter as they are two insignificant people who don’t live here in Britain now, but it does matter in that Harry’s the son of the King and brother of the next King.

I watched a bit of the documentary and read the horrible things said about her that were reported in the media.
It doesn't matter how anyone else coped with threats or actualattacks.
The threats were real, not made up. And she deserves sympathy. I'm sure it's very frightening.

The Problem is - there are comments made that some seem to genuinely not see as racist. They are of course racist comments, but some people, instead of learning and adapting, just keep fighting. They don't see themselves as racist, and they would say such things, therefor, the comment isn't racist.

I think its a fear response most of the time
