Granygravy, I know. I saw it. The press is horrible to any woman who marries into the Royal family. Meghan had the added racism on top of it.

Not just those who married in
Princess Margaret had some very shocking press.
Somehow she and her ex-husband managed to bring up two children who seem well-balanced and who avoid publicity.

In fact most of the press “harassment” seems to be about someone else.

I can’t believe there is more of this drivel to come. I watched the Oprah interview. It wasn’t nearly as shocking as the media suggested it would be. The second trailer is suggesting this is about hate and race. Sorry? I’m looking at our very respected Prince and Princess of Wales and thinking this just cannot be about them? William had Diana as a mother who was not prejudiced about anything. Catherine has worked hard and diligently ever since she took on the role and never let us down. What on earth can H and M be moaning about this time?

I don't recall the press being beastly to Princess Alexandra, Katherine Worsley or the Queen Mother. There was a certain amount of deference even to the ruder ones, such as Princess Margaret and Princess Anne.
It was Diana who broke that in her fatal pursuit of publicity, and Harry is following her path. A dangerously stupid man completely lacking in judgement.

I can’t help thinking that’s only the case due to the passage of time and the change in media behaviour. Anybody is fair game now - in fact the media take pleasure in downing people they have built up. The sympathetic hearing Meghan and Harry are receiving in America isn’t going to last, and whether they are telling the truth or not they will very soon be yesterday’s news, I hope they are mentally equipped to deal with that.

Yes, it has got worse.

But I'm old enough to remember Margaret and Townsend, Peter Sellers (just good friends) Margaret and Robin Douglas-Home, Antony Armstrong-Jones (reader, she married him), Margaret and Roddy etc.

SAS Rogue Heroes was very good, I thought. It's on iPlayer. Real people, some still alive I think, basically true but with "poetic licence". Remind you of anything?

Poetic licence is departing from the facts to create an effect, so why would Netflix and H & M choose to do so?

If their treatment from the press and the media is so awful, why not present it as is, why the need to create an effect? When accusing the RF for example of racism and the press of hounding them, those accusations shouldn't be basically true, or H & M's truth, they should quite simply be true.

I've never had the need to embellish the truth, and don't see the need for anyone else to do so either, especially when the aim is to publicly discredit and humiliate the RF.
