A mother who had several affairs with married men , he was 13 and in boarding school when she hit the front pages smooching Dodi Fayed and perched on a diving board .

His father was not squeaky clean, either…..
Do you think his outpourings now - in this book, on Netflix, in interviews, wtc - are reasonable and justified because of his mother’s actions when he was a teen?

AGAA4 Fri 06-Jan-23 13:36:15

Agreed. He has thrown his whole arsenal at the RF now so hopefully when this forore has died down we may not hear much from H and M in future. Am I being too optimistic?

another extract in the news,
Meghan Markle kneeled and put her palms on Princess Diana's gravestone to ask her late mother-in-law for 'clarity and guidance' on 20th anniversary of her death, Prince Harry reveals.

she being an actress.

I think if I found out that my husband was in love with another woman when we married, I would have affairs too given the chance.

Kate1949 Fri 06-Jan-23 13:54:35

I hadn't read that on

Kate1949 Fri 06-Jan-23 13:55:20

Sorry. I hadn't read that one lemsip. Heaven preserve us.

He is throwing his toys out of the pram!

Only time will tell. I did read that he & M were bringing out a total of four books, but I'm hoping it was a cruel joke.

She obviously wasn't listening, then!

It appears that Harry's wife also came from a disfunctional family, yet she made a success of her acting career. It did seem odd that her mother was the only member of her family to appear at their wedding, whereas the RF were there in numbers.

As an ordinary British person who does not read the right wing tabloids, I have taken very little notice of them but some things do stay in the memory, such as Harry's saying in response to one of Meghan's demands not being met "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets". Did he say that or was he misquoted? It would have raised alarm bells if true.

He will have to be silenced soon before he causes a war. He needs to be in a hospital having treatment.

Callistemom21 Another point is that so many are telling us that William and Harry did not have a normal upbringing in a normal family, unlike the rest of us.

Can they define "normal" please?

I'll give that a try, from a what is "normal" my family perspective.

- neither of my parents wrote books or gave interviews about their private sex lives (I believe neither had affairs either). Nor were their accidentally leaked calls about feminine products to be embarrassed of.

- my mum didn't die a tragic death resulting in me following her coffin, stoically, through the streets of London.

- my Aunts and Uncles, Grandfather, assorted other relations weren't in news for inappropriate/ alleged illegal deeds.

- my dad actually worked at a job and earned for what he did, didn't faff around - at arguably quite nice ceremonies for his life "work".

- mum cooked and cleaned, until she was too old, nobody did for us as a family, my family did for ourselves (no servants).

- we lived at home with our parents, went to fee-based school, no boarding, IOW were with our parents when not in school. Unfortunately, my parents believed, wrongly, school after 16 was for sons not daughters.

- we were driven by our dad, not servants, in a modest auto.

- we weren't indulged, by working class standards. I do know royalty have different standards - clearly not better standards.

The latest snippet, true or not?
He was jealous of the Cambridges because they had lovely walnut furniture whilst he and Meghan went to
IKEA for some of theirs ,paid for by M’s credit card.
You couldn’t make it up.
I wonder who put it all together.

I think, if you compare that list to many families today, very few would tick every point, or even several points.

Callistemon21 Fri 06-Jan-23 15:01:19

sorry, meant to say
- we were driven by our dad, not servants, in a modest auto.
That was unusual, in those days.
We didn't have one.

What?

There must be loads of spare furniture to spare in cellars, unused rooms, in one of the Palaces or country homes Harry had lived in.
Apparently Nottingham Cottage was very small, so they wouldn't have needed much anyway.
Not many young engaged couples get offered a charming cottage for free, however bijou.

Then came Frogmore - another 'Cottage'.

That’s probably what Diana would have said to Meghan.

Following it up with, ‘Do I make myself clear?’

That's because Megan is estranged from most of her family, hence my post in the Estrangement forums about H.

Haha I'm sure that most people in their 30's would prefer IKEA stuff they chose to "lovely walnut furniture"

But, hey what do I know? "Some people", whatever you do for them is wrong!

Daisymae Fri 06-Jan-23 15:22:32

This whole sorry tale is based on sibling rivalry on steroids. Meghan has given him not only a way out but a vehicle and reason to air grievances. The next exciting episode will be his wife's grievances with the RF. I think that even most devoted fan will soon be sick of it.

OnwardandUpward Fri 06-Jan-23 15:26:54

It's so sad.

I honestly think his sense of entitlement is so huge that whatever he was given would be wrong unless it blatantly exceeded what W was given- and seeing as things are different these days, the spoiling of H is over.

Kate1949 Fri 06-Jan-23 15:31:45

What's normal for one family isn't normal for all. We weren't driven by our dad. We never had a car, holiday, day trip out, a bathroom, inside toilet, a toothbrush even. Like I said, it's all relative.

TerriBull Fri 06-Jan-23 15:34:20

The Cambridges may well have had lovely walnut furniture, but a trip to the nearest Ikea to pick up flat packs comes with the opportunity to sample the Meatballs! Yeah that's something one doesn't get with some old fusty piece of donated Chipendale hmm

Callistemon21 Fri 06-Jan-23 15:34:52

What's normal for one family isn't normal for all.

Absolutely, Kat1949

Posters are excusing him because of what happened with his parents, his mother dying when he was young, life in the goldfish bowl of the Royal Family - but no-one has mentioned that William went through all these traumas too and has the added burden of being the heir to the throne.
Poor man.
